Oyster Royal 6426
I recently came into possession of this after my grandfather passed away. My local Rolex dealer told me it's probably from the 1950's. I'm hoping to get it serviced, and was wondering if anybody had any idea around-about what the cost to get it serviced would be. I'm going to probably have to replace the crystal since it's getting cracks. And are there recommendations as far as do/don'ts for getting it serviced? Thanks!

Any pics of the clasp? I’d imagine it will run you around $500 for a decent service.

I have a suspicion that the bracelet is fake/aftermarket. Most likely why andromeda160 requested a pic of the clasp. As stated above, a proper service will cost around $500-600 but so worth it and will help the watch last a lifetime.

The bracelet is aftermarket. When I received the watch is was just the watch itself. I'm guessing he lost the bracelet, because we can't find it anywhere. I do plan on purchasing a Rolex bracelet eventually.

My oyster Royal 6426 from late 50s. I noticed that the dial color is the same which is cream color.
It is 34mm but I enjoy it very much and wear comfortably on the wrist also ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Similar to my 6694 Oyster Date. Service was around 500 which included a new mainspring and crystal. I wouldn't polish or touch the dial.

I'm hoping mine can be restored to look that good. I've read around about the whole polishing debate. I never realized that was a thing until now. It's like to try to get a vintage or bracelet for it over a new one. Would anybody happen to know what kind of would need to look for? The watch is 34mm.

Good advice from the other gents here - minimal changes if possible. Just get it overhauled, crystal replaced and likely crown replaced and you are good to go.
As for the bracelet, if its really from the 50s/60s, these likely came on 7206 bracelets which are 19mm lug sizes. Otherwise, you can opt for a more modern one which is the 78350 bracelet. Personally, I think a nice leather band would good look (and cheaper to obtain) good luck. |

Thanks for the info! I'm torn between stainless steel and leather. I think I might get both and just switch out if the situation calls for it. My local Rolex dealer say's it'll be around $700 to restore, so I'm glad I asked around here. I've read that user VanessaCW21 and Bob Ridley are the go to people around here. If nobody minds me asking, how much do they normally charge for the service?

I've been wearing mine as-is for a little bit now. I'm actually enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would (I'm more of a 41 mm kind of guy, but the 34 mm has been better than I thought). I hope mine will look that good when it's complete!

Would anybody happen to know the end link numbers for this watch? I'm looking at getting an Oyster band, I just wanted to make sure the end links would fit perfectly.

I did that. I didn't really get anything worthwhile. That's why I figured I'd ask the people here that actually know a thing or two about this stuff.

i'm not trying to be spitefully difficult but many of us have given you guidance already on your original question but we shouldn't be googling information for you when you can easily do that yourself... ![]() |

7206 is too big, it should be a 7205 rivet bracelet with 57 end links

Thanks! I saw the 7206 was too big a little earlier. I just came across some chart somewhere that had all the bracelet numbers that went with each reference number, but unfortunately I closed it out before I saved it.

![]() A 7206 is for 20mm models and the OPs watch requires a 19mm bracelet which would be the 7205.

If you end up grabbing a newer 78350, I believe you'll need 557 end pieces.

Thanks for the info. The difficult thing was, there are so many different end links for different reference numbers it's easier to ask people that actually own the watch rather than go by what some random website.
