Corum $20 Gold Coin watch

Hi everyone,

I hope you guys can help me out on this one here.
A very good friend in Germany got this watch from his grandpa who has passed away and he asked me, if I know anything about the watch.

Unfortunately I’ve never heard about it nor seen this watch before, especially not with a Rolex bracelet.

Can anyone here tell me something about this watch since it even got me wondering at this point.

Thanks in advance guys.

The Corum coin watch is made out of one single golden collectible coin.
The dial is basically the carefully removed top of the coin, the remains are hollowed out to accomodate the movement.

The watch initially was on a leather strap and someone has put a (possibly fake) Rolex bracelet on it.

Agree, bracelet is not correct and had one of the Corum 20s back in the 80s. They go for 3k or so nowadays i think.

Google Corum Gold Coin Watch.

Lots of info.

Yeah someone added a Rolex bracelet or maybe a fake one. The Corum could be fake too.

It breaks my heart to see coins destroyed in this way.

just common $20 gold pieces, I think it adds a new breath of life to the coin. sad most sit in safes never to be looked at. My girlfriend doesn't quite get my passion for watches, but she understands coin collecting even less. As I was buying coins, she kept getting more and more frustrated, I tried telling her of their intrinsic value, and she just couldn't fathom spending alot of money for something that will sit in a box without ever seeing the light of day for the most part.

They use common date coins so no big deal. Now if it was a UHR Double Eagle in PL condition....
