What would you do?
So I’m on the list at my AD for a new Pepsi (supposedly high up the list) but have found the off colors and bracelet really have me questioning that purchase. Honestly if I knew nothing of Rolex and were just picking a watch on aesthetics I’d pick the TT CHNR all day. But what I found most interesting this morning as I did what I always do....think about fam.....think about the gig.....think about watches.....was that for slightly over the price of this watch I could pick up a new SMP, a preloved Pelagos, and a Tudor GMT....all 3!!! First world problems!!!!!

Get what you want. Don’t buy something just because of the hype. Period.
I was offered my ADs first BLRO - and passed for similar reasons. I just wasn’t for me. There’s a lot of speculation on what the dealer allocations are - but no one really knows. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Well I’ve always wanted a Pepsi GMT, but the 5-digits feel far less solid to me than the 6-digits. So I hoped and hoped that the color issues would be corrected with the release of a stainless model. Obviously that didn’t happen. And then there’s the dressy bracelet which I’m so so about and the wife hates. Guess we are an oyster family. Anyway, I may have to hold tight with my BLNR and look at other options like the CHNR or the previously mentioned trifecta to fill my horological void......

Get what you really want. However sometimes it’s hard to know what you want until you spend some time with the watch. The good need is obviously the Pepsi is a safe bet and you could try to get through the honeymoon period and see how things shake out.

Simplify is my best advice
Think about the Family and the Gig. The watch problem will resolve itself in its own time. Prolly 2020 when that call from the AD about your new Pepsi comes in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Everybody is saying “get what you want” which I endorse and your post really does drip with the insinuation that if it weren’t for the novelty/hype/exclusivity (delete as appropriate) you wouldn’t be interested in it.
On the other hand this is a watch that you could afford to buy, audition and get rid of if necessary without ending up out of pocket (indeed you’d make a profit). Personally I’d never drop that amount without being certain I wanted it and I don’t particularly like the new BLRO. I’ve only ever sold one expensive watch, because it was orange and I bought it when I was at an age that I thought an orange watch was a good idea. However in your shoes, if I could buy this specific watch at retail and potentially flip without wrecking the relationship with the AD I bought from, I’d pull the trigger and see how the land lies after a few weeks living with it. |

And I’ve thought about this..... I could get it. Trial it. And if I love it, spectacular. If I don’t, I thought I would throw a price of X on it and sell it via consignment through my AD. Makes me happy and keeps the relationship there solid. I have no doubt they could throw 16k on one and get it all day... |

Are you looking for the forum to condone your flippping the watch for profit, cause that's how this reads?

What matters is what you feel not the hype, you can have a connecting with a common watch you can do without but go for what you have deeper love in, that’s your want.

If you do not feel like the watch will be a piece you enjoy, don't buy.

One of the two ADs I do business with (the smaller one) thinks he will get 2 GMT pepsi's this year.

I'm in the "get what you really want and skip what you don't" camp. But we're all different.
I was surprised by how unmoved the SS Ceramic Pepsi left me when it finally launched. It's got all the ingredients, yet it somehow doesn't do it for me. Haven't seen one in the metal yet though. At first I thought it was a bit of subconscious self conditioning to stop me buying another watch. And maybe it is. But I remain lust free. Not that I'd get one in this decade from the AD network. Having said that, I'm now in dread of seeing one for real. |

Not the hype. I think it’s the fact that I just always wanted a new Pepsi. Always. Since I was 7yrs old. The WG is out of reach and the new stainless is just not what I expected. My AD is expecting his first shipment this month. I hope I can see one in the metal. I’m pretty sure I will know the second I hold one if it’s for me. If it isn’t, then I may have to give the CHNR a whirl. Hell, maybe the Tudor will be my dream Pepsi. Or maybe I’ll come around to the 5digits. Dunno we’ll see. Thanks for the words folks! |

I agree the colors are way..... off. I’d buy the new Tudor GMT and put the rest in the bank!

I normally know a watch is for me the moment I see it in the metal, sometimes even before. The moment of purchase ideally should be doubt-free or that doubt will just grow stronger over time. Like buying a car. If there's anything you don't like about the car physically, it just grows and grows.
