Service on a new Yacht Master
I am looking at buying a new gold Yacht Master. The dealer has had it in stock since 2013 , and it was obviously in Rolex' inventory for a few years before that, since I read that this watch was discontinued in 2011. It is presently in a lighted display window. Is it likely that the lubricant is dried out or should this watch have any service/maintenance before wearing?

Service on a new Yacht Master
I could not find anything online, so I telephoned Rolex in Switzerland for answers. Even though the watch has been sitting around for seven years, unworn, they say no service or maintenance needs to be done at this point.

I would be more concerned with the price. See what the watch retailed for in 2011 and adjust downward from that number. If an AD you should get a complete package and a five year warranty.

Highly likely it'll require attention, but with the 5 year warranty, you are safe. RSC will likely service the movement should you run into any issues.

Service on a new Yacht Master
The dealer says nothing is required. It came with a 5 year Rolex warranty, so I'm not concerned.

To Sky King 31, yes, I did. Got what I think was an excellent price from a local AD (in France) with a great reputation. I have no doubt that Rolex in the US will back the product if anything becomes necessary.
And to 007 SUB, thanks for the advice. |
