This is pretty exciting news for me, given my interest in James Bond watches and passionate belief in the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors ("NAWCC").
(It's also taken a lot of discipline for me to work on this in its development for the better part of 2008 w/out being able to discuss it more widely; but that phase is thankfully over!) As some of you already know, the NAWCC runs the National Watch & Clock Museum, which is located in Columbia, Pennsylvania. They house the largest and most comprehensive horological collection in North America: Over 12,000 items currently. The museum is spectacular, totally modern; the presentation is also one of the best in terms of orienting what they have to chronology, technology groupings, and, in this case, answering the question of why the heck it's important to be able to accurately tell time in the first place. In addition to their permanent collection, they do periodic themed displays that run something like 6 months to a year. They are currently doing timepieces of U.S. Presidents. Their "Bond Watches, James Bond Watches" exhibit will run from June 2010 through May 2011. ![]() For those of you for whom James Bond watches may not be absolutely top-of-mind, here's a complete list of upcoming exhibits.

I ask because there would be one problem- in the book version of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Bond uses a Rolex as an improvised set of brass knuckles, breaking the crystal, but it simply says Rolex Oyster, not a model. |
