FP Journe Resale Value

I am new to FPJ.

Have been eyeing Octa Automatic Reserve and chronometre bleu, both fantastic watches.
It is quite some money to spend, I am curious how FPJ performance on secondary market when it comes to holding its value?

TIA

Good on the CB, fair/so-so on the OR.

A quick check on Chrono24 will give you an idea on how FPJ hold their value. The CB is pretty good.
No premium like the new GMT or a Nautilus but it doesn’t lose money.
In my view one shouldn’t buy a watch solely on the expected potential value increase.
Buy what you like and enjoy it.

If you want it to hold its value the CB is the only option out of the 2 IF buying NEW... but if buying pre-owned, only the Octa Reserve is the way to go (as CB are selling above retail in the secondary market so I'd only buy that one new if value retention is important).

Overall, I find FPJ does VERY well in the secondary market IF you're buying something unusual/rare. If you purchase something in their standard catalogue you will lose $ as soon as you leave the boutique, with the CB being the only "standard" exception at the moment. BUT, this makes standard pieces a great buy in the secondary market.

Like always though, buy the piece you love most.

Hi, can you please say why the Octa Reserve is a good bet? Is that the one with the 120h reserve, offset regulator, double-date?

I was responding to the OP's initial query in which they asked about 2 particular models... and my reason was given in my response:

"(as CB are selling above retail in the secondary market so I'd only buy that one new if value retention is important)."

So to me, it depends if the OP is buying NEW or on the secondary market... if buying secondary, value wise (not watch preference), Id pick the OR at a discount... if buying NEW, definitely CB. And personally, I much prefer the CB :)

Thank you for your info buddy.
I am buying it new, resale value concerns me as I prefer to spend my money wisely.(No offense, its just my personal preference, unlike buying a car you get to customize it, a watch is a watch especially its a standard model that you can get fairly easy.)

A lot of people are betting on values rising significantly in the longer term after the founder leaves the company. Could go either way of course but it is a bit of a different wrinkle vs most brands.

First I've heard of this! I would actually expect them to go down after Mr. Journe leaves...

But you'll have an original Journe from when he ran the company.... Like everything there is a good counterargument the other way but it could get interesting.

You're welcome.

If buying NEW definitely pick the CB (value retention wise) as you can own it and get your money back quite easily. The waiting list with the CB is now a single global one, and its around an 18 month wait I believe, and I personally don't expect it to decrease as production won't significantly increase.

FPJ is one of the most underrated brands, you can find amazing value for money in the used market.

I personally love the brand.
