If you have to have one , which one should be between SD 16600 and Deepsea 116660? Now , I 'vs had SD M serial , but I 'm considering to sell it and buy a new Deepsea. Was it worth for to sell and get the new deepsea?

These two watches share the same movement and the same name.

Beyond that, they are not even in the same league... (or 20,000 leagues under the sea).

The SD is a pretty tame, mainstream Sport watch with capability you will never use.

The DSSD is a specialty monster that's going to stand out above your wrist and shine like a beacon no matter where you go.. It has capability that nobody will use.

It's a personal decision.. If you are into dive watches the DSSD is going to be the ultimate, no question.

SD Is the way to go. The DSSD is too big and as market prices are reflecting, it is not that big a hit. The other issue is that the SD will no longer be produced. It was never a big seller and now that production stopped, it should hold its value much better.

The SD is much more practical for daily wearing. The Deep Sea is almost too big both for comfort and for blending in with formal attire.

I have both the SD & DSSD. As much as I love the DSSD, I would never consider flipping my SD to fund a DSSD. The SD is a classic & will be discontinued very soon whereas the DSSD will probably be around for years to come. It's really up to you but I would keep the SD and save up for the DSSD.

i'd hold on to the sd you have, esp since they are now discontinued. it still works pretty good in the tub at maximum depth i'd bet.

I have both and LOVE both
One cant replace the other. I wear the DSSD
99% of the time BUT sometimes it sits too high
to comfortably fit under some shirts and I wear
something else.

1) Go try it on and see what you really think
2) If you LOVE it buy it and if you must then flip your SD

My suggestion... Try it on and see if you like it. If you love
it I suggest keep your SD and save till you can have both.
You will never lose money on your SD from what you would sell
it for now.

. That's the beauty of this forum. What watch smiles most at you is the real winner in this question??? As a person who doesn't re-sell watches I couldn't care less about values 10 yrs from now ........... big gulp............. well maybe slightly.......but the reasons for my purchases are purely personnal and not business IMHO.

Totally disagree with your logic on the prices being a reflection regarding how much of a hit (or not) the DSSD has been so far. Look around...EVERY watch on the market these days (be it a certifiable BIG HIT like the Daytona or a flop of a watch) are getting killed when it comes to sale prices. It's called a recession & record breaking unemployment #'s that are killing prices...not the popularity of the watch. To be honest, I would argue just the opposite in that I'm surprised a ss sport watch in the DSSD price range is selling as well as it is considering these economic times...if the DSSD was released 4 years ago I'm pretty sure there would still be many a flipper making healthy returns off DSSD sales. But I digress...to the OP, I say buy the one that feels right to you...impossible for us 'strangers' to answer this question for you. My first Rolex was a SD but I ended up selling it for a Sub Date as I thought the face looked a little small due to the larger crystal. I'm now a DSSD owner and wouldn't dream of going back to a SD (or Sub)...but that's because I love bigger watches and think the DSSD is the most comfortable larger watch I've ever owned (not to mention the bracelet & Glidelock are a thing of beauty IMO). Others will obviously have very different reactions to both watches, and that is why only you can decide which is right for you. Good luck.

Seems the VAST majority of people who talk down about the DSSD
do not own one and haven't even tried one on for more than a minute
IF they have at all.

I bought a DJ a few years ago and thought it was the perfect size.
I bought the SD last year and thought it was going to be weird and too big for me.
I put it on and after a day of wearing it I knew it was a GREAT watch and felt
GREAT on the wrist.
I heard about the DSSD and called my dealer, told him I had to have the first one.
I had really thought of just buying and flipping it but when I went to pick it up I was
with my GF and the dealer insisted if I was buying it they were going to size it for me
(they didn't want me to put it on EBay) and I figured what the heck might as well see how it feels.. I put it on and I knew it was the watch for me. I still own and wear all
of my others BUT the DSSD just keeps finding its way back onto my wrist...

The DSSD is an AMAZING watch!

(and this is coming from someone with a smaller wrist (6.75 in)

I tried them on several times and it's the thickness that bothered me, not the larger size.
I love my SD and it does not fit under tighter sleeved shirts. But I don't have problem showing it if SD does not want to be hidden under the sleeve.....

It's definately a personal decission as others have stated. I chose the Deepsea when I had the choise. I don't regret it and love the watch. It gets alot of wrist time. I must admit though, I would also like to pick us an SD. Different watch, but I'm sure I'd like it as well. Good luck.

As much as I love the SD, I have to go with the DSSD. It is Rolex's newest creation and everything is just improved. It makes the SD look like a civilian watch; DSSD is now the professional watch of Rolex. I have a saying..........

Show a SD to a DSSD owner and he will say "nice watch".....show a DSSD to a SD owner and he will lend you his wife!

Main difference between the two are the dimensions and depth rating. Oh, and price of course. Since it is your money paying for it you can decide if it is worth the spending $9600 on a SS diver.

Is it worth spending $5-6 on a SS Sub?...A lot of people do it, in the classifieds, you can get a DSSD for under $8k from some members. OP, get what you like....

I, personally, have no problem spending $10k on a SS watch like the DSSD. And obviously, you only buy what you like.

I have to agree with all the above posts. I do not have an SD but I have the DSSD and no question that it will not fit under a dress shirt for me. The profile is too high. But this is offset by the bracelet which makes it a very comfortable watch to wear. And I can tell you it really looks good on the wrist because you can see it from a mile away.
