BLNR Purchase Help

I'm thinking about buying a second Rolex to compliment my SD4K. A couple years ago I made the plunge with my first purchase, the SD. I really liked the BLNR, but had to go more traditional, never imagined I'd find myself thinking about another

Anyways, I stepped away from the forum and all things Rolex since that purchase. I visited an AD in Seattle recently and couldn't believe it when they had no subs or sport models in stock. I was told about the shortage and returned here to find much written about it. It seems my decision to pursue a BLNR possibly has come at a bad time.

I'm wanting some input on this model specifically regarding pricing and availability. Is paying MSRP to be expected right now? I'd appreciate any input on price history of this model.
Were they available less than msrp in the grey market ever or have they always been around msrp? I picked up my SD4K at a pretty significant savings at the time via a trusted seller, but I know that model had sold that way for some time.

Any chance of any savings via a discount or tax savings at an AD? Any idea what the wait lists are like these days?

Would appreciate any feedback. Not sure if I should keep pursuing, let things play out a bit, etc. Hard to gauge having just jumped back in. Thanks in advance

Discount... no. If you don't pay MSRP then the next buyer in line will.

Tax savings... maybe. If your AD will ship to your address out-of-state then you can handle paying taxes how you see fit.

Wait times... yes. Bank on anywhere from one to six months if there isn't a huge list of buyers ahead of you.

Thanks for the input, all seems reasonable. Any idea as to historical pricing? Curious if I missed the boat, or perhaps msrp has been the norm.

BLNRs used to be discounted after the hype wore down from initial release. Now they're allocated to dealers in smaller numbers and just about every AD will want (and get) MSRP for them.

If you want a GMT for the functionality and can live without the blue, consider an LN instead. They also don't have a silly nickname.

No discount. Trusted seller have to buy nib over msrp from people who flip. Msrp from AD if you are lucky enough to get one. Tax free if shipped and if AD will ship. If you really want it pay the goinf price, msrp plus tax

I wouldn’t beat yourself up over it. Discounts at ADs on the BLNR were always few and far between, and the lowest TS prices that I remember were just a few hundred less than MSRP. It’s always been a hot watch.

I got my BLNR in just over a month so it can happen. Pick a small local dealer and make yourself known after they put you on a list. Stopping by every few weeks will also do wonders for your relationship.

And remember, many of those people on the list before you will never buy it anyway. They will either have already found one somewhere else, have no money available or just plain changed there mind when finally called. I was number 7 on my list and this is exactly what happened to me. Very common.

My BLNR I purchased in Jan 2014. I got 10% discount and luckily no tax for a total of $7100. I had no idea it was hot and just loved the watch. Now, thing are different. I recently went to a local AD and was told the Pepsi cannot take waiting lists and there is a year wait for the BLNR with no discounts. Not sure of this helps.
