16628 - through the years

In my now a couple month search for a YM-16628 I have done a lot of research and remain confused!

Is there any difference between say a circa 97' 16628 and a circa 08'? Did the solid gold YMs always get the "solid" center links or no? Just seems to be so much lack of info out there was hoping to see if anyone knew?

It seems the only difference I can find for sure from older models to newer is a holes or no holes case.

Am I right?

Thanks for any help!!

No, good question, just not much knowledge with the reference. I thought the Gold and TT 5 digits in general had hollow mid links--at least the Sub and GMT. I had a 11623 TT YM back in 2008 but I honestly do not remember if the center links were hollow or not. Did not keep it long.

From what I remember, the very first models from early 90s had lug holes, basically a submariner case. In the mid 90s the model assumed the style it kept pretty much until it was discontinued, in 2008-09 when all gold YM II 44mm was introduced. Markers got bigger in later productions, but I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) the model stayed pretty much the same through the years. Mine is from 1997 and does have solid middle links. I don't believe they were ever hollow, even on initial run in 1992.

Info accurate so far. ROLEXROLEXROLEX Rehaut engraving was added later too, if you dig that (I don't). Great summer watch.
