Old friend stopped this morning
Sorry if this is a duplicate...
I have a 20 year old 16233 DateJust that won't wind. I can change the date and time, but when I tried to wind it this morning, I could feel the gear engage for a couple of turns, then nothing. I've had it serviced only once by a Rolex service center, but it came back feeling stiffer when I tried to adjust or wind it, so I haven't been eager to take it in again. Will have to bite the bullet this time. Anyone else have this happen? Cost to fix? Thanks |

Welcome. I had my 16600 serviced at the Beverly Hills service center this past January (I declined letting my local "certified" Rolex dealer doing it for a lower price). My watch was running but ran five minutes fast after a week. They did a complete service and replaced several parts (crystal, bezel, bezel ring and cam, crown, valve, etc). Base cost was $700 and additional parts were $300. Watch was returned looking basically brand new with a two year factory warranty. If I experienced the same problem as you have then I would ask them to make it right as per the warranty. After all, that's what it is there for. If you are still within the warranty window you might consider insisting they make it right.
