Sub vs BLNR fit?

Does the BLNR fit the same as a sub on your wrist?

They sit quite similar. The sub has a taller/thicker caseback because if the 300m resistance.

I have same lin-up as MRwhy.
I prefer the sub due to its adjustability.
GMT has a half link adjustment.

With the sub you are more flexible throughout the year.

Also the Submariner has a longer clasp (as can be seen in TJ's photo above).
This can annoy people with smaller wrists.

Fit is very similar, however the GMT sits a little lower on the wrist. Hard to beat the flexibility of adjustment with the glidelock though, the half link in the GMT simply doesn't compare. Both outstanding choices nonetheless.

I like the fit of the gmt more because of the flatter case back. Throw is glidelock on it and you’ll have the best fitting Rolex imo

Have owned both. The GMT2C was slightly more comfortable.
It's a very small amount. The slight thickness/weight over the GMT2C made the Sub constantly slide along my wrist bone. This will likely be different for different shaped wrists but it was my experience.
I would generally say that the difference in wear is negligeable, but in my case I noticed it.

Now if you want to hear something really strange, my Deepseas so far have been my most comfortable watches. Probably because the thick casebacks which creates a gap for my wrist bone to rest in. It is heavier but sits more comfy on my wrist.

The sub has a slightly more squared off lug look vs. the GMT

The GMT sits a bit more balanced, think it is because of the clasp which I prefer over the glidelock

No they don't fit the same for me. I have a smaller wrist, 6 3/4 inches. The sub case back being even a few mm thicker didn't sit as well as the GMT with the flatter case back on my wrist.

Try both on first for sure. Because I really wanted a sub, but wrist fit sealed it for me with the GMT.

I feel a bit of a difference on my smaller wrist as well. The sub rides a little higher, and the longer clasp makes the bracelet a little less flexible. It's not an especially big difference, but I do notice it.

Semi-related question -- are the casebacks compatible? Can you stick a GMT caseback on a sub to make it a little thinner? Obviously the WR would suffer, but I'm really quite unlikely to reach seven times the maximum depth for recreational diving, so it wouldn't be much of a loss.

i own both (6 digit models). will post pics later / after work.

the sub had more of a "bubble back" case so it sits higher on the wrist. the gmt sits lower on the wrist. overall sub height is about 12.8mm in height (case back to crystal excluding cyclops) while the gmt is about 12.2mm.

folks around commented on the clasp difference.

personally, i like how the gmt lays better on the wrist.

Some one started a thread on this. It can be done. Obviously the waterproofing will be reduced and you'll need to have a pro do a pressure test.
Not something I would do at all as the compromise isn't worth it and the Submariner is incredibly comfortable. I take this thread as just another wis point of interest digging in the weeds.
Omega, Breitling and even AP make some bigger watches and the Submariner is far more comfortable.

Ultimately the SubC will be more comfortable since you can adjust it with extreme precision using GlideLock. People who like to have the watch with zero wobble but without being too tight know what I mean. It fits just right.

Lately I have been adjusting multiple times a week due to variations in temperature/humidity in the weather here.

That said, I find the 116610LN the most comfortable watch I have. I did not expect it to be more comfy than some rubber/leather straps but the perfect sizing is awesome.

I never noticed this! Will definitely take a look at this myself when I get home from work.

Personally I do notice a difference in wearing the two watches. The increased height/thickness of the Sub is something I definitely take note of if I put it on after wearing my BLNR for awhile.

GMT has more narrow lugs and looks less squarish. As said by others, glidelock is superior for adjustment but is much longer. For my 7.25” wrist the GMT 116719 fits me best. I like the look of the GMT best, and I enjoy the 116619, too. Good luck! No wrong choice. Try them both on. That’s a must.

Both are very comfortable to me, but the GMT is more comfortable and I can fit it under shirt cuffs, whereas I have trouble doing that with the sub. The glidelock on the sub is far superior to the ez link though imo.

I must be super sensitive because I find the difference in how they wear to be huge. The gmt fits my wrist so much better than my sub does, even with the glide lock. The thicker case back in the sub makes it sit higher on my wrist and not even the glide lock can change that. Gmt sits almost flat on my wrist and there is enough adjustment on the easy link to get you that perfect fit.

The sub isn’t uncomfortable but the gmt fits like a tailored suit at least for me.

Agreed. Both are comfortable, but I always preferred the flatter fit of the gmt.

While I absolutely love the Hulk, I have to admit the GMT fits my wrist better. As many have mentioned, two major points:

1. The claps of the sub is longer which means more sliding for my wrist. Tends to slide to the top 'top heavy' no matter how many times I adjusted the glidelock, tried 'balancing' the links and half links. Moved them from the 12 side to the 6, and then back again, tried just about every click on the glidelock, just didn't seem to fit me well. I guess the sub isn't for me.

2. That 300m water resistant case is slightly thicker than the GMT's but it's very noticeable which made the sub slide for me. Could never really get it to just sit perfectly at the center of my wrist.

That being said, the GMT fits my wrist perfectly. The fit of the sub made me sell by 116610, and call me crazy, but I'm now looking for a Hulk!

I just got the BLNR and it fits better than the SubC for me. I have a 6.75” flat, bony wrist and the caseback on the SubC really elevates it off the wrist. The SubC doesn’t feel as planted or snug as the BLNR. I love the Glidelock but the Easylink works well enough.
