Crazy price mark up on 126710 BLRO

Anyone else think that the huge markup for the 126710blro is ridiculous? This watch retails at us$9250 but is now selling on SC for over 19K, almost as much as the daytona ceramic which i think is insane.

It’s completely absurd and I would never entertain that markup. However, if people are willing to pay it I say good for the seller. Their wouldn’t be a markup without willing buyers.

The ones I have seen on trusted seller’s websites don’t seem to be selling at $19k+
Personally, I would not pay anything more than MSRP for it (or any watch for that matter).

IMO, there's some "irrational exuberance" going on with the Rolex SS sport watches. I'd not pay more than MSRP but there are people with lots of disposable income out there. Maybe this a good time to cash out...

The new name of the game is supply.

Rolex sports models have now become a much less available item.
If you want any Rolex sports model now you pretty much need to go and 'establish a relationship' with a dealer.
After that and you have purchased a few DateJusts and like watches you may purchase a sports model for retail when you purchase it together with at least one other non-sports model.
This is the new way the game is played. So instead of Rolex making and selling 1 sports model, they now sell 5 non-sports models and 1 sports model.
You heard it first here!
Otherwise rip out that cash from your wallet and pay up to 2 x or more retail price on the grey market.
Times changed, got to move with the times.

I'm not so certain purchasing multiple watches from a jeweler is a great idea. This could show that you are a collector and a potential flipper. Actually the whole supply tightening is insane. It does nothing to discourage the big grays from obtaining watches as they're still going to be the big spenders. It just makes it hard on those that are prepared to pay through the wazoo at the ADs. I hate the topic and the whole game at this point.

It's absurd but there is enough money floating around the world that sellers can hold and a buyer will probably materialize.
I'm not willing to pay these prices or patronize greys. It's just business and I choose not to do business that way. Nothing against the business model or those that purchase from greys, to each their own.
That's also why I committed to develop a relationship with an AD that I like and received a Daytona C. It took 18 months. I'm not a big fish but through my visiting the store once or twice a month to see what they had, talk watches and just generally socialize, making some other modest jewelry and watch purchases and generally gaining their trust that I wasn't a flipper, I now have a relationship that I value and will continue to make mutually beneficial.

I believe someone can ask whatever they want, whether someone buys it is their problem.

I will say while I paid MSRP for both my 116500's and 126710, the 126710 to me seems like it should be priced higher than 116500. The new BLRO just seems like a more expensive watch. By the way all of my friends who have gotten one and have both agree and have made same comments!

Don't understand how a market price driven by supply and demand can be described as "ridiculous". It is just a fact.
You may not like it or agree with it - just as you may not agree with the fact that Picassos sell for £20m+ but that's the price. Stamping your feet is a pretty irrelevant reaction.

And if one thinks premium on BLRO is high look at Rainbow Daytona! One sold at auction for $256K a nice $175k premium over original MSRP!

Athough I agree it is a market based on supply and demand, but using this argument it is unusual that the party limiting the supply is not reflecting the “market value” of their products; seemingly to grossly undervalue their products rather than try to exploit the situation. I do however believe that the Picasso example is not relevant as there is now only a finite supply of works whereas Rolex could meet demand by increasing production if they so wished.

126710 is clearly no better than 116710LN / BLNR. MSRPx2 is not worth paying for 126710.

Over $ 20,000 is PP / A. Lange, but not a steel ROLEX PROFESSIONAL with a million pieces. If a new steel Submarine comes out, it should be worth more than $ 20,000, too?...

Simpsons covered this:

This is really a shame
I want one of these soemthing terrible. $9k is in my budget, 20k is not

Its very sad

And like someone else said, i have seen a few for sale at places like Bobs and they are 20k plus and guess what! They are still in the case

I called a local AD and was told they are getting 1 per year and have a crazy long waiting list.

I remember when the green glass milgauss came out and people were paying $14-15k for it because it has the green glass

Now you can buy one for $6k

kinda absorb

Its one thing to make a profit on them , its another to just have them sitting somewhere because you are asking an unreasonable amount for them.
In the UK it seems everyone thinks they as worth £15-16K!! and none of them appear to have sold in the past week.
I'd be happy to pay £10K for one, but those prices are crazy.
I guess i'll have to wait until people get a bit more realistic with what they are worth.

Bcause the manufacturer, who controls supply, does not even believe they are worth that much, otherwise they would be selling them at that price.

If your budget is MSRP then it'll be a waiting game. If there is no budget then TT and PM starts to look more attractive, which is probably part of Rolex's master plan. Starve SS to push PM.

+1, pm used to be 20-30% off from ADs, now its more like 10-15... CHNR no discount at all.

Not necessarily. You put yourself down for a new Ferrari or Pagani and once you have a build slot you can sell it for more than the car's retail price. This doesn't mean Ferrari do not believe they are worth that. There are many factors in play in setting a retailer's price. Rolex know that only a sliver of potential customers can get these watches at retail price and that the rest are on the hunt. That's what they want.

I tried on a 116519, completely out of my budget, but better than an invisible white dial 116500. single digit discount. Me breathless
