I believe DavidSW had one available on his site a few months back but it was a full WG bracelet too.

Never seen this before. So Rolex allow SS dials to be put into PM pieces but not vice versa?

Correct. The one I was referring to was on a WG oyster bracelet.

AFAIK you can do a dial replacement, but you probably could order it like you can with the thousands of DJ combinations. If you ordered it, the warranty card would reflect it’s original and not a swap.

An AD indicated to me last year you could put a SS dial on the PM sky dweller version as long as the dial was in the catalogue, you just couldn't do it the other way around.

Makes sense but I'm still surprised they would do the popular blue, thought it would just be for whites and blacks.

I stopped by Kern’s Jewelry in Burlingame, CA couple of weeks ago and they had one of these in the case.

Yeah, Rolex's basic rule is that you can trade parts laterally or "down," but not up.

This is all quite interesting. Had no idea you could dial trade "down".

This solves the question from another recent thread about watches in Japan. The displayed blue and white dials were priced as full PMs.

Could I have a blue dial installed on the red gold or yellow gold model?

I visited the Rolex AD on Rodeo Drive last summer and to my disbelief saw a white and a black dial Skydweller sat in the display cabinet. I asked to take a look and was told they were WG models and didn’t believe it until I felt the weight. Even then I got back to my hotel and my mind was playing tricks thinking was it just heavier compared to my Sub and the sales assistant was hushing people away for the big spenders.

Visited my AD some time later back in the UK and was advised Rolex made the dials available on WG models in very small numbers due to the demand but they couldn’t be found in the catalogues etc.

Maybe there is a different back story who’s knows.

However that has got me thinking about the BLRO in reverse. How do SS owners feel about others walking around ‘replicating’ their configuration?!

If they allowed that blue dial to be put into a YG Skydweller I might bite at that one.

Can you get the blue dial on a TT or is that not down enough? That would be killer!

I think the limit of dial swaps or custom orders from Rolex is the metal must be the same color.

(i.e)
SS dials into WG Case
TT and YG dials into YG case
RG dials into RG case

I dont think you can put a dial that comes on a white metal into a yellow gold case or a Rose gold dial (like the gray sunburst) into a YG or WG piece.

Sorry but Rolex will not do a Dial swap on this model. Just asked, they said "of course not"!

So funny, I was at Kern's too and I was so excited for about a minute when I thought it was a SS until he let me down and told me it was WG.

I first saw these full white gold with stick markers in Nov 2017.
Both in strap and bracelet, factory piece. So they’ve been around for a while now.
