Buy 5712a at premium or 5712g at retail?
Sorry if this has been discussed before but I have a dilemma: I’ve been wanting a 5712a for a long time but wasn’t able to source one at retail, now my AD has a 5712g available. Should I pay the premium for 5712a in grey market or settle for 5712g which is available for purchase at retail right now? I can see myself wearing 5712g but wonduring if any of you have faced the same dilemma before? For those of you who have 5712g, have you ever regretted the purchase?

I have the 5712r. I love the RG version more than the SS. The WG version just doesn’t attract me. I liked the weight but not the finish. TBO though, I think my skin tone is more geared to YG & RG. I have a WG Pepsi GMT and OF Daytona. I love those pieces but the 5712r wins in this scenario.

between the two, I'll pay premium over the SS... or premium over the R but not the G even at a discount.
Or... buy what you want! Never compromise on your choice bec of its price or availability. I've been there and done that. Sent from my SM-N9208 using Tapatalk |

The G is a love or hate affair. I personally love it but it is more dressy watch. Very different from the ss on bracelet. My ultimate choice would be the ss on bracelet but @retail. I refuse to pay premium.

I’ll go for the R then SS, but not the G.

Get the watch you really want even if you must pay a little more for it. In the end you will enjoy the watch and not be thinking about something else.

A Nautilus on a strap is not a Naut. Go SS!

Don't really like the G so I'd pay up for the A.

I would wait for the 5712A, it appears more 5712As are becoming available lately.

I say get the one you like... why settle when you can get what you want or else you will always think about the one you wanted.

when i got the 5712R i was also offered the G and i need to stress that it was a tight decision. the G looked very good on the wrist as well, understated but refined. it is surely underrated here. i did buy the R back then.....meanwile it is gone since i did not get along with the buckle/straps combos. all in all the A is the winner of the trio for me. i will pick up mine in two weeks time, it will then compete for wrist time with the 5980AR and the 5711R:::)))

As some members already told you, go for the one that makes you happy when you wear it. Obviously, if you are planning to flip it quickly you would be better off acquiring the SS, but that's a different story. The SS is beautiful but ridiculously expensive, so I would go for the R.

One of the best things about the nautilus is the integrated bracelet. I couldnt get myself to buy a 5712g. I would try to aource another variant vs get the G.
The 5711R would be my go to at that price level if you couldnt source SS model. |

In this case, wait for the 1A. The G is a terrible consolation prize if your heart wants the 1A - the Nautilus belongs on a bracelet and the washed out grey dial doesn't hold a candle to the multifaceted blue dial of the SS. There's a reason why the G is one of the easiest to obtain Nautilus references out there.
