Toughts on 1675 Pepsi

Hi folks,

can someone please educate me or give his toughts on this 1675 Pepsi
MAXI mk4 Fat font
serial 555xxxx from 1978

I'm pretty sure the dial is ok, how about the crystal and the bezel inlay?

It is unpolished normally

bracelet 78360
endlinks 580
movement 1570

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger, but i'v learned to ask some expert advice upfront (thanks to some mistakes in the past)

Replies are appreciated!!

Oh yes, forgot this picture, crown guards are ok, but there is some wear on the case. Just to give a complete picture of the watch.

All looks good but it would appear to have a later insert fitted. What date code is on the bracelet?

If this is from exoticwatches.net, Philippe is legit. I love the patina on this. It definitely looks like a more recent pepsi insert.

Yes, it is from exotic watches!

I read some good reviews about him. So I believe he is legit.
Its just that I became incredibly cautious.
I know that some are honest but use the priniple: "ask and i'll tell'
That's why i'm carefull

I've purchases a couple pieces from Philippe over the years, and he's very legit and very honest. No worries there.

I didn't think it is an mk 1 Maxi dial.
I think it is a non-serif.

Good info. There seems to be a lot of "Don't ask and I won't tell" going on lately. . . . among other things.

I'm afraid that is good advice.

If a watch has a newer bezel insert, it should be mentioned in the advert right?

Like on Eric Ku's website? I have the impression he does'nt hide anything from the potential buyer.

In addition, I noticed a prominent vintage seller here on the forum seems to ALWAYS have watches that have hands that "aged a shade lighter/darker than the rest of the watch." I mean come on, they are obviously service hands, hands taken from other watches, or re-lumed. Almost every listing of this seller is like this!

I'm sure mr Philip is an honest man. I don't think that is the point here.

It's just that I don't want to buy a watch to hear afterwards it is a newer insert. I want to know it upfront.
Thats why I give more money to a trusted dealer to buy the good watch instead of the good deal.

But I want to be fully informed, thats what I pay extra for

The existence of a 1675 "Maxi' dial is new to me :)
Granted the plots on the late 70's dials may be slightly larger than the earlier matte dials but Maxi... Hmmm
