AP Roc blue vs Daytona ceramic

I have always wanted an AP but afraid it woukd be too big 41 mm. Now, mu friend wants to trade straight up with my daytona white ceramic. The condition of AP ROc is LNIB 2018. However I have a very small wrist 6.2” and I am afraid I would not be able to pull it off.

What do you guys think about this trade?

I have a 6.75” wrist and tried on the 15400 and thought it was a bit big. Just the way the lugs are integrated with the bracelet makes it wear larger than it is in my opinion.

I personally wouldn’t do that trade anyways though. Good luck!

I love blue . That said, if it was the black dial
Daytona C it would’ve been much more difficult
to decide. Not a big fan of white dialed watches
generally speaking ... Take some pics and look
to decide if you think it’s worth it .

I’d rather have that AP than a SS Daytona C.

The AP ROC is a beautiful watch, but I can't help but feel like it is more fragile than the Daytona. I won't wear the AP when I'm playing tennis or at the beach. I feel like I can't subject it to the same activities I have no reservations in doing while wearing my Daytona.

If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick Daytona.

I own that Daytona and would easily make that swap; however, I don’t see it fitting your wrist. I would stay put.

I don't consider the AP ROC a true in-house. I know it's quality, but at this price range in 2018, not for me. Daytona at MSRP by a Mile and Millie for me

You ought to keep your Daytona and your buddy ought to trade his ROC in on a new Daytona C Oysterflex. It's a win for everyone that way

Also, imho the ROC would not be a good fit on your wrist size.

ROC will be way too big on your wrist. Plus, I’d wait for the ROC to get an updated movement.

I'd imagine it's quite a bit more fragile. And, it's also way more bland.

AP wears big. AP 40mm is more like 42ish. Always add 2/3 mm to AP watches.
With your wrist, no way. It will be huge.
I have 6.75" and tried AP 15400, it was huge. I passed on that watch. Go for 37mm for your wrist. But no trade. Daytona is a keeper.

On a list myself for the white Daytona, but the blue ROC is really on another level. It would have been an easy choice, but your wrist size might not be able to pull it off. Try it on first and post some pics.

I voted AP, then I read about your wrist size. I think the Daytona will fit you better.

This

For me, AP in a heartbeat, but you may find it wears too large

AP for me, to me a watch is more than just a movement, and case, dial and bracelet are just on another level with the ROC ...

Wear the hell out of my 26320 and it's not fragile at all

Cheers,

Pieter

Based on the values and the look an size it would be the AP. I acknowledge the Daytona-C's greatness but enough is enough.

Tough choice for me, I had a ROC and now have a D500 so guess I would keep the Rolex as it is pretty much my beater watch for my PPs and APs.

Crazy we are even comparing these two. And the only real reason why is because the hype and inflated prices of a Daytona at near MSRP for the 26331. The 26331 is a superior watch and when you have the two next to each other, it is clear why one is 13K more than the other at retail pricing.

I'd consider the Daytona as much a $12k watch as the 5711 a $30k watch. What they go for at MSRP and what they're worth to many buyers (column-wheel chrono and in-house on the Rolex) is much different. Yeah i get it AP has nice bracelet finishing, but meh not superior, just "Fancier" if you like that sort of thing.

Useful Robustness is what you get from the Daytona and Oyster. Did I just scratch my bracelet on my silk shirt is what you get with the AP

I would not pay over MSRP for either (5711 or Daytona) but reality is, I do not care for the Daytona all that much and do not really understand the hype of it. Nor do I understand the 20K premium for the 5711 in blue..... it is what it is. But I do believe the ROC in person blows away the Daytona in the aesthetic department, which is subjective and we can agree to disagree.

Agree on the durability of the Daytona however and it certainly has its purpose in a collection.

Thanks for all the comments and inputs. I think the problem is my wrist is too small for a gorgeous handsome ROC.

Anyway, could anyone tell me why this thread was moved to AP forum? It was first posted in the rolex forum.
