Received my 114060 after 2 weeks on the wait list! (Long post, unboxing and story)

I'm happy to be able to finally share this exciting occasion with you. I hope it's not too boring for you, another sub unboxing, but for me it's a milestone moment. I'm turning 30 soon, and I've spent the last few years making some big strides in my own personal life. This is how I decided to reward myself.

I bought a Tissot Seastar to scratch my diver itch, but looking at the genuine article, and lurking the forums here, I realized I had to get the real deal. I searched for a local AD and found it was only 5 minutes from my house. Went in out of curiosity, and they had some TT Subs, TT Daytona, black bezel GMT, Milgauss, DSSD, in addition to the usual DJ and OPs. Spoke to a staff member who let me try on some watches, and said he would contact me when he got the next 114060.

Fast forward a few days and I emailed the AD asking if I was formally on the wait list. They informed me if I placed a down payment of $500 my spot at the top of the list was secure. This surprised me, as I have heard the horror stories here of people needing to "build a relationship" with the AD by buying less desirable models and working your way up. Here I was, a brand new potential customer with no history, first in line for the next 114060. Perhaps it's because I live in a smaller city where demand is lower. Needless to say I jumped at the opportunity.

Earlier this week, a scant 2 weeks after I entered the AD for the first time, I received an email notifying me that they had received their shipment list, and that it included a 114060. I was ecstatic. This most recent Friday, the shipment arrived, and I am now the happy owner of my first Rolex, just in time for a much anticipated vacation from work!

It came with a box of Rolex chocolates as well lol. I also kept the coffin.

While admiring the watch in the AD, I noticed a small fleck of some material stuck to the dial. I mentioned it to the staff and they told me they could immediately return it to Rolex to have it fixed at their expense. I am going to do it once I get back from my vacation, the desire to take it with me on my trip was too strong. You can see it near the 12 o'clock index. From this angle the rehaut also seems a bit askew, but it's hard to say.

A mildly infuriating first scratch (first one always hurts the most) on the polished side of one of the lugs, despite my best efforts to be cognizant of where I'm sticking my hand:

Trying my best with my camera phone to capture the moment:

Faithful G-Shock in the background:

Obligatory lume shot:

Cheers!

Congrats on a classic watch! I wouldn't worry about the rehaut, as I've found that they are slightly misaligned more often than not.

Congrats, and nice box of chocolates!! They'll take out the scratch during the dial service, no doubt about that.

Congratulations. Great watch. Don't worry about the rehaut "issue", it pretty much proves that your watch is a genuine Rolex.

Congrats! Seems like the 114060 is the easiest sports models to get, hardly a wait list at all.

Congrats on your new sub! Disappointed with rolex QC again, the spec on the dial is not acceptable .
