15400 refinishing question.
After 6 years I sent my 15400 to clearwater for its first service. I decided to also refinish the case and bracelet as it had a bunch of battle scars. I am happy with the results of the watch as it looks extremely crisp, but I cant help but notice the space between the lugs have increased. Is this normal considering it is the first touch up?

I don’t think it’s normal unless you have a lot of bracelet stretch, which would be odd for a 6 year old watch.

You made me quickly look at mine lol...
I don't think that's normal. That gap is quite big. Perhaps it has nothing to do with the polish and maybe just a quick adjustment with the clasp? But the rest of the bracelet does look a bit more spaced out than normal as well... hmmmmm |

Reached out to the boutique also, and got this response from the watchmaker at the store:
Thank you for the email and I’m glad you are happy with the overall result of the refinishing! Our service center performs the refinishing using the same process that is used when your watch was first produced in Switzerland. Generally, when the bracelet is refinished it is the outer surfaces that are refinished. During the refinishing process a small amount of metal is removed to get below the level of any scratches. Depending on how deep the scratches are they will be more or less metal removed to return the appearance of the bracelet back to like new. Normally, this wouldn’t change the spacing between the links. A small change can be normal depending on how much work the refinisher had to perform to achieve a good result. Based on the photos you sent it does appear normal to me. Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Have a great week and best regards |
