take this approach
What I would do, is to have a standalone bank account with no funds in it, or maybe just a couple of quid to keep it open. Tehn make sure you have a deal with the bank for no overdraft limit or facility. This way the buyer can only transfer funds and no extract any funds from the account. Then make sure the funds are cleared and moved from the said account, into your main account before you ship the goods. When shipping make sure you send it fully guaranteed so that there is no dispute if it arrives or not. Take this advice and if they are scammers they should leave empty handed.

Is pickup (or meet) and close the deal in bank possible? Sometimes it is the best for both parties!

Once a wire is made it usually cannot be reversed, I say usually because there is a 24 hour audit period, where the bank manager of the originating bank can recall the wire. Now here is what’s REALLY important, you must verify the source / detail of the deposit in your account. It must be a wire. Scammers will deposit a fraudulent check (cashiers or otherwise) in another branch or corresponding bank money appears in your account, same as if YOU deposited a fake cashiers check and then a few days, weeks later the money + overdraft fees are pulled from YOUR account and your watch is bye bye, so verify the source is a wire not an in branch deposit and wait 24 hours.
Shipment by insured post should be fine, FedEx is good, DHL is ok, I guess. |

fed ex is by far the safest method I have found for shipping high dollar watches..
there is no insurance though..if your nervous then use a third party insurance company.. |

Keep in mind international bank wire may take longer to clear than US domestic. This open up opportunity for buyer to have transfer cancel after receiving the watch.

wait for the money to clear - 3 -5 days possibly from France to UK- and then make sure you send the item fully tracked

Just sent a Rolex to Germany, guy paid via Chaps transfer into my account, i waited two days then sent the piece Royal Mail Insured International signed for.Cost him £11.50 . Only covers upto £500.00 in most european countries and the buyer insisted that was the way he wanted a £2500 watch sent. All okay with no problems though !!
Bank transfer is the only way. Paypal will charge 4% Darren |
