AD conversation today, Tudor scarcity

Called my AD today inquiring on the possibility of getting a Tudor GMT. She said she has seen a total of two GMT's come through their store since the release. She said newest Tudors have become nearly as scarce as the Rolex models. I'm on the list but who knows how long it will be.

She also commented that they have zero stainless professional Rolex models in stock and they have been told by Rolex not to expect anything in before next year.

Although the Rolex supply situation sounded very familiar, it was pretty surprising to here the issues they are having getting the hot Tudor models in stock as well.

Just figured I'd pass the info along...

My local Tudor dealer said roughly the same when I asked about a '58. They haven't received a second one yet.

I got mine in a week. I asked for it on a bracelet, and it came on a strap, but the AD took the strap off and put a bracelet on it after I said I would pass on one with a strap.

You got a discount? Wow not a chance I'll get one at this place if it ever comes in. Where is your AD located?

...also talked to another local AD yesterday who said he has a substantial waiting list for the Tudor GMT. Guess my area either has a lot of demand or a small supply.

Was in my AD last week and manager said the same thing . Only a few Tudor BB58 and GMTs have come in, and hardly any w SS bracelet. Also, Rolex told them not to expect any more SS prof watches until 2019.

My Primary AD also says not to expect new Rolex professional SS stock before next year. I happened to visit them asking about the Rolex Pepsi the day they received their second Tudor GMT so I was in the right place at the right time and purchased it. Mine is on the fabric strap (very comfortable) but I did elect to order the SS bracelet. I’ll be curious to see how long that takes! Apparently it’s going to be a tough holiday season for Rolex AD’s. Loving my new GMT so I can wait!

I believe it and haven't seen a single BB GMT since release. It's worth the hype, although I'd like to see them and a whole lot of Rolex watches available at every AD.

Huh. Weird. The AD where I got mine had 3 last week.

They did say, though, they weren't expecting another shipment until February.

got my Tudor GMT a couple of weeks ago, having ordered in June. However today I have taken it back to the AD as it has the date wheel issue. Pretty poor.

The Ben Bridge near me has a BB GMT, they said it's a non functioning sample, that they called me in to look at. It matches me so I prepaid for one. They said they think I will get it by the end of the year. But they also told me earlier in the year that they should have some more by October. They have received 3 so far this year.

Tudor also released the original BBN in limited quantities and got alot of hype on the Harrods edition too, so they know how to manipulate the market, I'm sure they want some of the Rolex GMT's magic to rub on theirs too.

I have the new 1926 on order - an anniversary gift from my wife. My AD originally told us we should have it by the end of September - when September came and went, I contacted them again.

They are now telling me Tudor is telling them to expect my watch by the end of November.

Looks like my anniversary gift is now turning into a Christmas gift - hopefully.

It seems to me Tudor got a little ahead of itself when first announcing the release dates of their new models.

on chrono24 the tudor GMT sells at very little above list. there is scarcity? i don't believe it, today i called two ADs in germany, one had it and did not want to sell it to me (only regular customers blablabla), the other one had no issues selling it to an unknown customer.

This, spoke with my preferred AD which is out of state - but he said the same thing. I'm not going to get the current release but just wondered as I passed over the one they got.

I was told by my AD that they only got one and haven’t seen another. I put a deposit down and got it in three weeks.

I was at a Tudor AD today and what l got out of my conversation with the sales associate was the 58s and Gmts are coming in slowly and they are fulfilling their wait lists which require a deposit. At this time there are none on display as they are still hot pieces. If your not on the list it's doubtful you'll be able to get one by Christmas.

I have only seen 2 Tudor GMT's, both in grey dealers, both at inflated prices.

1 AD locally told me the same thing, haven't got any in and don't expect to this year. 2nd AD said they'll have preorders filled by October and in cases November, but still waiting for a call. I know a 3rd AD got one in a few weeks ago that wasn't spoken for, but they are a few hours away so I didn't have time to make the drive.

I see the 58s listed by resellers quite a bit over retail but honestly I think people are just so used to Rolex market conditions now that they are starting to project that fear of scarcity onto Tudor, which I don't think will end up being the case.

1 AD also said Tudor likes to ramp up supply slowly, so I'd imagine by next year outstanding orders will be filled and these will be widely available and maybe can even snag a discount.

I was on holiday last month and saw a gmt on steel bracelet sat in the case at Florida mall. I went back 2 days later and it was still there, was offered it with no sales tax when I returned.

I didn’t purchase though, great watch but the price didn’t make sense with the current exchange rate. MSRP in the US is similar to grey prices on this side of the pond.
