Nice pics Mike! I just tried the DSSD on again this past Tuesday, I was comparing it with a Submersible....my wife hated both of them! So I guess i"m stuck with my SD as the "deep diver" for a while What's worse is she fell in love the with the Pltm DJ with the Glacier Serti dial, Ouch!

Great comaprisons, Mike!

Looking at the first photo, I just noticed that unlike the SD (and the Sub),the SEL on the deepsea protrudes instead of being recessed. I wonder why Rolex have done it that way.

You know James, it's something that several collectors have commented on. I don't know that anyone has come up with an answer.

Hmm - perhaps one of our watchmakers might have an answer to that one.

Either that or we may have to turn to someone with deep, deep, deep connections in the RXLXX Paradise.

I want one!

As my first Rolex. Never had one, never had the urge until I saw the Deep Sea. I guess I'm attracted to large watches. It would compliment my PAM005 & Breitling Skyland Blacksteel.

Hard to say about the SEL

Always good to see the angles on those watches

Great pictures Mike wonder James if the SEL on the Deepsea perhaps its designed that way to add strength to the weekest link in the bracelet the lug pins.

I love this pic...great to see the progression of the thicker case.

Regarding the SEL...that was the one thing that jumped out at me when I first put the DSSD on. While it doesn't really bother me, I do think it seems like such a minor thing that appears to be relatively easy to correct...yet for some reason it's slightly off. I see it as a fit & finish issue (albeit a small one) that just doesn't seem to be in harmony with the amazing quality of the rest of the watch head, bracelet & clasp.

All DSSD seem to have the SEL sticking out from the lugs. I don't think this is an issue because I have seen others that are like that. It probably was designed this way. Why? I don't know. If it wasn't designed this way then Rolex's quality issues needs to be addressed. It seem like quality is their problem but one can say that they produce so many watches that it's hard to regulate this.

Nice watch and wear it in good health.
