Patek Philippe 5167R v FP Journe Chronometre Bleu

Both amazing watches. I know they serve two different purposes but which would you choose?

CB is in my book the best Journe to own. On Patek side the best to own is a Nautilus. So if you have a Nautilus, I would go CB. IMHO

I chose the 67r. I prefer sports watches and found the bleu a bit underwhelming. The movement looks absolutely incredible, but obviously you can't see that while wearing the watch. Also, I'm not a fan of the asymmetrical placement of the subseconds and the smaller, printed numerals.

I would choose a 5167R over a FP Journe Chronometre Bleu.

There really aren’t any aquanauts I don’t love. I’d take the 5167r even though it’s my least favorite aquanaut. It’s not a blowout I like the CB I just love many other journes more and I def prefer the aqua.

The chronometre bleu for me. Amazing watch in person in every way. That dial had me mesmerized. The tantalum case with the thin profile just screams class. Beautiful complication as well with the barrel design for accuracy.... Beautiful gold movement hand round with s super interesting design......I wouldn't say the 5167r is a bad watch... But I just can't see how you'd pick that over this.

CB for me. Rose gold just doesn’t suit the aquanaut in my view.

CB for me, any time. It’s unique blue dial, craftsmanship, gold movement, accuracy thanks to the double barrels.
No picture or video can show how the blue dial reflects light, if you hold both in your hand you’ll choose the CB immediately.
I would compare the CB with the 5711 or a Calatrava.

I think you need both here. The CB can be dressed up more and can be dressed down for more casual but it does not have water resistance...

If forced to choose I would go CB.

Both great pieces - can’t go wrong - go with your gut now, and add the other later.

In terms of watchmaking, FPJ offers true hand finishing, while the aquanaut is mechanically finished only (see threads on watchprosite discussing PP finishing on non-grand-complication watches).

The CB is lovely, the dial is extraordinary. It easily dresses up or down, the rose gold (not plated, full rose gold) movement is glorious. You can buy a few straps and quick change them. I recommend the black rubber-backed strap for humid summertime.

I don't like the Aquanaut, so it's an easy decision for me. Regardless, the Journe is a lovely watch.

So I read the watchprosite posts regarding finishing and the Patek moderator specifically said that Larry Pettineli says that the finishing is the same quality on all the watches in the catalog.

Calatrava same as the grand comps. Whether it’s true or not I can’t say but that’s what Purist Pro says. I find it quite annoying and disconcerting that information is so hard to come by, total lack of transparency and it’s really a guessing game. I’ve also been on a factory tour, five days last October 2017 and really have no idea! Getting a straight answer is like pulling teeth. Also CB all day long and twice on Sunday.

Responding to my own post above, it wasn’t the Patek moderator that made the statement in regard to finishing it was another poster that said it. But nobody disagreed with him. Pettineli made his remarks on Gear Patrol according to the poster.

The CB looks stunning! But I’d get the aqua here if only one because for me it’s more versatile
