116600 vs 116610LN - Which To Choose?
I've found myself in a pickle recently. I have the opportunity to potentially purchase a 116600 or a 116610LN both gently used.
Obviously the SD4K is slightly more expensive than the Sub. SD4K comes with the box, extra links, hang tags, and papers whereas the Sub comes with just the box, extra links, and hang tag - no papers. Looking at roughly a $2K price difference between the two. However, the only Sea Dweller I'd have interest in would be the 116600 due to the 40mm size; anything bigger is a bit much for my wrists in my opinion. All that being said, if you had to choose one or the other which would you choose and why? |

IMO there's no questions - SD4K.
for many obvious reasons to me: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...ht=SD4K+vs+sub |

Easy... SD4K. The best Rolex has ever made.
Size is unbelievably great... Perfect for every occasion.. And the thin lugs are just gorgeous to look at. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would go with the SD, but it’s your watch and wrist. Is there one that speaks more to you; one that you have been wanting more than the other and constantly dream about?
If there is, then that is the answer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would go with the 116610LN. A great watch and perfect for most occasions. The money for a SD4K is my break on getting it. I don't see the value for what most of us do with watches but it is a personal choice. I would get the LN complete with box and papers and a current warranty in place.

The SD4K is unique without a doubt, and from what I've read one of the shortest production run SS sports models Rolex has ever produced. Meaning finding another one may be difficult in time. This SD4K is local to me, no shipping involved and I can see it in person prior to purchase. The 116610LN is not, and would be somewhat of a gamble even though the pictures in the ad are good, there's always something the human eye can pick up that a camera just sometimes can't. Something about the over built aspect of the SD4K speaks to me, but the thinness of the Sub and date readability with the cyclops keeps me from easily pulling the trigger. I've become accustomed to the cyclops on my BLNR, but that doesn't mean I need it. I meet with the seller today to see the SD4K on my wrist, I think that will finalize my decision. Whether I purchase the SD4K or a 116610LN, I don't think anything will stop my hankering for a 116610LV... |

Try them on, they do wear very differently. The Seadweller sits much higher on the wrist, I like both but for me the sub is the easier all day watch.

Yea, definitely try to see the sd in person before you make the choice even though it’ll be tough. I loved the sd on paper, but in person was not amused. Didn’t like the thickness or the matte dial and not worth the amount they’re going for today. However, in this case I will have to go with the sd because it’s a complete set. Not having papers on a modern reference is a deal breaker for me.
If you can source a sub with the complete package though, that will be my choice. Shouldn’t be too hard to find a sub.

I was making the same decision and picked the SD4K. Harder to get.
One can always add the SubC to their collection. SD4K not as easily. I never regretted my decision.

From what I gather, you prefer the Sd4k. I have one and I think it is better than a Sub.

Another vote for the SD4k. Best diver there is, imo.

The SD4K C is more subtle because of the case design...
No cyclops , thinner lugs and crown guards give it more of a classic look.. It's a little heftier and sits a bit taller but still comfortable on the wrist if sized right... I love mine and really enjoy wearing it... |

⬆️⬆️⬆️ Agree. I thought the difference between the two, All being equal, is usually a bit more than 2k from what I’ve seen. But the Sub having no papers....it should be more than 2k less than the SD....IMO

116600 vs 116610LN - Which To Choose?
Quote:
With todays “SS Shortage” prices affecting the used markets it seems even less than stellar backed pieces are starting to command a premium. That’s the cheapest 116610LN on WatchRecon currently. Quote:
Exactly my thoughts. This all came about yesterday and since sleeping on it this is what keeps echoing in my head. Assuming the SD4K isn’t gargantuan on my wrists today I’m sure you all will see a “incoming” post shortly. |

I think the SD4K is a better looking watch between the two. Fit and comfort wise, the Submariner wins for me.

This for sure, they are very different. If the SD ends up being the one, all the better, it's rarer in the wild. But one or the other is going to feel better for sure.

SD! All the papers and boxes, far less common than a Sub and I believe the shortest production run from Rolex. You can always add a Sub...SD all the way.
