What makes a Rolex tick?

I recently read The Marine Chronometer by Rupert T Goulding and wondered if there was anything similar (like a Haynes Manual or Service Manual) available for a classic movement like the 3135. Preferably annotated for the layman rather than a trained technician? Just looking to learn and probably won’t attempt any repairs myself, but being self sufficient on waterproof testing, seal replacement and maybe even a regulation would be a plus.
