Suggestions on buying a green sub please!
Hi everybody,
I haven't posted on here in ages but I got myself a black sub a year or so ago and everyone on here was really helpful with suggestions when I was looking to buy one and also really need when I did manage to get myself one. I am hoping for some help again please! I really want another watch and I have my heart set on a green sub, the only thing that puts me off is the wait time for one. I was wondering is there a good used rolex website that I could get one from? Or is it worth me just getting myself on a few waiting lists and waiting a couple of years for one. I am in the position to buy one now and I suppose I just really want it now! I know I need to exercise some patience! Or shall I just leave the green sub and look for another rolex? I do like the explorer (the 1st one not the 2nd one). Any help would be great. Thank you, Andrew

Have you looked at the sales forum here?

Which "green sub" are you looking for? I guess you mean the hulk (116610LV, green bezel and green dial), but there is also the kermit (16610LV, green bezel and black dial) or the yellow gold sub 116618 with green dial.
In any case, look at the sales forum here on TRF and the other sites suggested above. |

This is much like your thread over a year ago. If you had taken that advice back then, you’d be wearing a hulk today. Not a rant on my part, just sharing in the spirit of communication.
Don’t know how you have missed the dozen or so that sold on TRF since then. But as others have said, a Trusted Seller here (and something like $12K USD) will get you what you want. Who’s trusted? Just read the Who’s Who threads. Good luck on your quest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I look at the TS listings here from time to time. But only for curiosity and occasionally for scoping. Being in the UK, as is the OP, it's not viable. I wish it was.
I could not get on a UK wait list for the 116610LV. Some ADs don't do lists any more. My local AD, who has been nothing but professional and helpful to me down the years, said that they were not confident that all the customers on their closed Hulk list would get them. So I went grey. I scoped some UK sellers out on Chrono24 and did my homework. I got a good deal from a grey dealer in London who gave a level of service and professionalism comparable to any AD I've tried. Two thirds of the sellers I contacted didn't even bother to reply to me. I also tried WF and was negotiating in parallel on a used Sub less that 12 months old. WF were being too greedy but they were at least a reference and back up plan. I paid 18% over MSRP (for a watch which to all intent and purpose did not exist at MSRP) and I've been paid handsomely to wear it in the months since. Not that I'll ever convert it into money. My ever helpful local AD authenticated it for me. They didn't need to. I was already 100% confident. But they offered and it would have been silly of me to refuse. |

David SW has one for $12,935. That's £9,848. Add 20% VAT on import and you're looking at a £11,820 Sub LV Watchfinder has an unworn, stickered LV at £10,950 Retail is £6,950. UK grey market prices are obscene just now, never mind the costs of going down the TS route

grey market pricing is nuts just now. Unless you want to pay nearly £11k for a watch that retails at £6,950 your only option is to get on the lists, being careful not to get on the lists of different retailers in the Aurum group.

Thanks everyone for there response. I would love a green sub but it just seems too expensive at the moment. Maybe I will have a look around and see what else tickles my fancy! I was thinking about an Omega or Tag but I suppose I just fancy another Rolex.
Once again thank you to everyone who responded :)

I bought the Auquracer Pepsi GMT in the hope it would cure my GMT Master jones. It hasn't. If I'm being honest, I can't think why I thought it would.
I got a good discount and although brutal and over designed, it's quite a fun thing to wear, looks pretty and has big wrist presence. But if you want a Rolex, only a Rolex will do. |

Maybe call some ADs in Europe - Italy, Greece, Portugal etc in smaller towns and try to register your interest, if you are lucky maybe one will pop up in a few months tho you will need to stay in touch, maybe send some chocs, wine etc.

Seems like deliveries are up. So one may become available to you at an AD soon.

I would look to get the sub you want and not settle for anything less than what you desire! Like others mentioned, there’s a lot of trusted sellers on here and If they do not have what you’re looking for in stock, I’m sure they can get it! Good luck!
