Newer Hulk Submariner
Hello Folks,
I'm new to the forum and would like to ask a question about my 2 year old Rolex Submariner. When when setting the Date manually by sweeping the hands forward it takes about 4 hours past midnight before the date clicks into position. And when the watch is running under its own cycle it also takes until about 4am when the date change is complete and the date wheel is in the correct position. If I turn the crown through the date wheel positions manually it clicks smoothly and precisely throughout all the date positions. I am not sure if it was like that new because I never noticed. The only reason I became aware of it now is because I read the date change should be instant on a Rolex submariner. Should I take the watch in for service? it is still under warranty. Is it possible that I created this problem by adjusting the watch incorrectly? Or is this not really a problem or something that is a concern? And will running the watch like this have any adverse affects on the longevity of the watches internal mechanism. Thank you in advance for all your input. |

It's normal for the date change to occur a few mins after 12am. I have a few that are dead on 12am.
4 hours is not normal, the hands need to be re-set. Take it in to RSC, they will sort it for you. & no, it wasn't something you did.

Is it a snap "instant" date change at 4am? Or does it start at 3am and eventually finish at 4am?
Either way the date change mechanism needs a service. Just seems strange to me that the snap change feature broke.

Instant date change refers to the date changing from one number to the next in an instant. It has no relation to the time it changes at. (e.g. you won't see the bottom of an 11 and the top of a 12 on the date wheel at the same time).
As said above, if it's consistently changing at the same time, the hands might just need to be re-set. In any even, it's not normal so sent it in and have them figure it out. |
