So whens the UK getting an abundance of Daytonas
Well i've thought about it and i think if i can find a Daytona for list or just a little over i'd snap it up, but just as i'm seeing all these list price or less US Daytonas i'm still not seeing anything in the UK, so when are Rolex going to start stopping off in the UK before doing a delivery to the US, is there anywhere in the UK with Daytonas going for RRP or a little over or is it still £6750 and above at grey dealers

Yeah, everyday on here there's a few more Daytona owners getting them at MRSP, then you look at the classifieds and they're going for less than MRSP. Then us poor UK folk go look at our options such as grey dealers and see the prices creeping up to £7000, it's meant to be a credit crisis just now but i don't think the grey dealers are noticing this

The UK is a world unto itself methinks at times with regards price and availability issues ?
I had for sale on this forum and ebay a BNIB SS Daytona (not mine, my sons) M series 78490 clasp that was only a few days fresh. The Buy it now was £6500 with absolutely no takers!!! I eventually sold it albeit nearly 3 weeks after listing for £6150 to a GD. Whilst the market is still there in terms of interest and demand for RRP there are fewer and fewer people prepared to shell out serious money at the moment for re-sale hike-ups. Potential buyers would rather wait (and wait they will) for RRP as the economic crunch is starting to take effect. The resale price HAS NOT dropped IMHO as professional GD's are still charging £6500-7000 but where the price has dropped is for the likes of you and me who just want to "get rid" of the item and will take what we can, when we can.

I had mine three weeks ago at 7.500 £ in Paris and I don't regret ....
This watch is outstanding and 500 £ doesnt make a big difference in life .. isn't it ? I love this watch, I don't care about buisness ! If I was looking for 500 £ I will have never buy such a watch .... Life is to short . |

In the watch game it always seems to be '500 quid more', you start off with a limit of 6k, then you see something at £6500 you like, then £7000 until you've over extended yourself in the pursuit of something that shouldn't really have been bought.
I would never ever pay £7500 for a Daytona, i wouldn't pay over the odds for any of them, this year we will see the whole of the world suffer some serious economic problems and i just cannot see the market sustaining high price watches the way it has in previous years, i've seen a few people selling watches due to financial problems and it's only going to get worse as the year goes on, so paying a premium for a Daytona for me is just money lost, i can't see them sustaining their over inflated value.

Are you sure £7500 and not Euro7500 ? £7500 is far too much IMO for a watch that albeit grail status is readily available everywhere for an already set premium and £1000 profit at £6500.

The pound is almost exactly the same as the Euro now.

Absolutely . Although in the last week we have gained back approx 9%.
The point I was trying to make was if he had paid 7500 euros that is nearer to the mark for Europe in terms of RRP and the current climate. Here in UK or anywhere £7.5k is high. PS... You up for the GTG Tony ?

As far as I'm aware, the waiting lists are still horrendous for the Daytona. I know I'm at the bottom of the list at my local AD, still looking at 40 odd people ahead of me. Potentially a few people might not be so keen to fork out so much given the recent price increases and economic climate, but either way, it's still a very lengthy wait for me. On the bright side, gives me plenty of time to find the cash for it!

Yeah, but how many of those 40 have £5750 to hand over for a watch in the current climate?

Haven't seen one anywhere. But, I will not pay over the odds or a premium as some private sellers are adding on for a watch, no matter how much I want it.
Thats if the watch if £5750 or 57p. Eventually one will come up and when it does hopefully I will get it. If not I have more watches which are easier to come buy on a wish list. As Charlie says the credit crunch/recession will eventually bite really deep and IMHO the market will be flooded with them Si |

I have £6000 in the watch fund and it will stay there until something comes up at a good price, believe me i can wait for the bargains to hit, 2009 is gearing up to be the worst year on record and i cannot see things like luxury watches getting away with price increases and premiums.
