Rolex Coffin - Where to buy?

Does anyone know where I can get some of these plastic boxes? Surely someone makes something like those used by Rolex in shipping our watches but I've not managed to find anything yet.

I see one seller on the bay selling original Rolex coffins and one other place called Chrono-shop that have them.

For years I've used heavy nylon like zip bags but it's a little messy.

Thanks.

Have you checked with your AD, mine usually has several of these around...

I have asked for one with every Rolex I've purchased - the AD had no issue at all.

Check the for sale section here on the forum. Have seen them for sale many times.

Assuming one uses a safe, and assuming the average watch box doesn't fit nicely in a safe, and assuming one has more than one or two watches then these Rolex coffins offer a perfect and stackable storage solution.

Thanks Brandon, will do.

Going to message my AD too, although they've not always been the most helpful!

Yes, a few people I noted in the threads I searched have said that. My issue was I never asked any time when I was buying and after 20 years of buying I need a few boxes! Plus, only a handful of my Rolex were bought new at AD.

My need is purely storage, when traveling I'm like you. Wrist, or wrists, only. Unless it's a Swatch or G-Shock which is usually the second watch when traveling.

I think most ADs will throw one in with the purchase for regulars. I do not believe Rolex policy allows this and wants only the green presentation box (without the white sleeve) delivered to retail purchasers.

How is anyone crazy for paying a couple of bucks for something that is useful as some ADs don’t give them away.

I used to use them, but TBH, I found I liked the Everest watch pouch better. They're a slimmer design, so they'll serve your purpose of storing your watches in the safe, plus take up less space.

My AD has been directed per Rolex policy to no longer give coffins to customers.

It goes right along with removing the plastic protective tape and fitting the bracelet to the customer, and additionally with the Rolex on-line registration at time of sale.

Warranty cards must also be signed, and dated with the AD also labeled on the card.

It’s not an ideal travelling case. It’s hard plastic and the foam moves around inside.

I guarantee if you drop the case with your watch inside, the watch will break.

The best travel cases, other than the obvious watch ‘rolls’ are these:

The watch doesn’t touch the hard clear plastic, only styrofoam.

So the box that they're shipped in from the factory isn't sufficient for travel?

What’s funny?

When you travel, are you saying that your bag or whatever is ‘shipped’ in the same way that a truck carrying hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of expensive goods to AD’s travels?

Don’t think so.

Are you aware of what the shipping containers sit in, whilst they are being transported?

Put your watch in to a plastic Rolex container, then drop it on the floor.

Tell me before opening it, if the case isn’t already smashed, that you are 100% certain your watch hasn’t taken a solid knock against the floor, with nothing except solid clear plastic soaking up the force.

Now, compare that with a thick padded case which contains firm sponge.

Seems pretty safe to me. Seeing that it is surrounded by foam on all sides. A drop to the floor wouldn’t hurt.

They’re good for storage but not day to day use. The hinge line is a simple plastic fold in the plastic moulding and multiple open and closing causes them to snap off. I think they’re designed as a single use item. If your AD won’t or doesn’t have any to give you, then ebay is your friend, where some AD’s ar selling them on for pocket money.

Drop testing is one thing I do as part of my day job. Intact, undamaged Rolex coffins will physically protect a watch from at least a 1 meter drop onto concrete. So, yeah, I'm 100% confident.

Great.

Aside from your drop testing job, and stick with it, as being a comedian wouldn’t be a good idea, you’ll notice that my original response was that I felt it just wasn’t ‘ideal’ as opposed to impossible.

I think what I think, and you, drop test for a living.

Cheers.
