Submariner ND or SD4K?
I myself have a SD4K I bought for a steal new(not sure if I'm allowed to post price) and I've been happy, but looking at the Steve Mcqueen Photos of him wearing the ND and Persol sunglasses have made me wonder...Clearly I would never look as cool as Steve and had I had bought the Submariner it would be the chunky lug recent model and not the one he's wearing I was wondering If the ND would look better being somewhat beaten up after some years of owning then the sea-dweller would. Would I have been a little cool like Steve or am I tripping and it wouldn't make a difference either way?

I don't think it makes a difference; you own the watch, the watch doesn't own you. Make it your own and enjoy it every moment you can.

Steve made his watch and his sunglasses cool. Not the other way around.
If you are thinking about changing your watch to be more “Steve” you’re doing it all wrong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sd4k by a mile if we're comparing to maxi case modern subs. Older subs maybe closer fight.

You could probably pull ~4K usd out of the deal if you made the switch. Just highlighting.
Personally, if not for the money, I think you’d be crazy to make this change. Discontinued short production run model, or the common run of the mill (all be it gorgeous) ND sub SD4k prices have no where to go but up....

To the majority of people, they look exactly the same. Keep what you have.
And you’ll never be as cool as Steve McQueen. Just saying. |

1) They were a very limited run and are far fewer than the NDs. 2) Their appearance if much closer to the McQueen Subs. 3) They look awesome in comparison to the new NDs given their slender styling and traditional look. 4) IMHO, the better watch to wear for representing McQueen is the Monte Carlo chrono. It's also a bargain in comparison to the SubC. Not to mention is was the first to have an auto wind chronograph. 5) It's fine to be a fan of stars past or present, it's just not all that cool. Wear your watch and make that famous!!! |

SD4K is what I'd pick, the tapered lugs and it not being 'just a sub' are the benefits.

Those were the exact two model I was doubting. I also went with the SD4K. Why? Well I loved the thickness of the case and the thinner lugs, the date without cyclops, the useless hev which looks interesting, the also useless diver extension and the fact that it's a little less common seen model.
The 114060 was close, felt great when I tried it on but I was thinking I would miss the date. Not just for practical reasons but it also gives you something to do with the setting of your watch every other month. That being said, both models are pretty close and I could be happy with both of them. The SD4K just has a little edge for me.

Yes, I know that it does not exist. But people often use that for to shorten out like you know, specially when not using number codes. People just use different methods, thats it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

It is the opposite. The denomination is longer. It's called only Submariner. Submariner No Date is longer, apart from that it does not exist

Yes, but is there a problem if OP or someone else wants to use ND or No Date, you get the point. People are different anyway. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
