Falling out of love with my GMT LN

I use to espouse the virtues of this one, but just all of a sudden lost interest. Don’t know why. I like the complication and find it useful, as I do travel frequently. Now I’m just thinking about selling it, but that seems a little silly. Maybe I’m just anxious for my blue DJ 41 to arrive!

We are all entitled to our opinions and thoughts on the watches we own. However the GMT LN has been in my collection since 3/15 and I still think it's great. Are you planning to flip the GMT for the DJ? If so that might explain it.

I think you should give it some time. I recently felt this way about my BLNR but have since come back around to really appreciate it. Not sure whether you will or not but you don't want to regret selling it after the fact. You should let it collect dust for a few weeks and then bring it back to the wrist and see if you feel differently.

I’ve been there and done that with several watches. Some I’ve sold and not looked back and some I’ve regretted. One thing I highly recommend is to take a break for a stretch from it. Maybe a couple months and then throw it back on. For me, it’s like finding a shirt or jacket that I forgot I had in the back of a closet. Sometimes you forget why you stopped wearing it and others you remember exactly why.

I have had mine since July 2007. It is my daily "beater" and by far my favorite of all my watches due to its practicality. Just yesterday I played 2 hours of tennis and soccer while wearing it, without skipping a beat. Don't sell it, you will regret. Instead, brush the PCL out of the bracelet and you will love it again. It took me 11 years to get the courage to brush the PCL, but I have never looked back

Unless you have to sell it - i’d Put it in the safe for a bit. It surprises me how often my own preferences change and I find myself rotating from the safe again. If you can afford to keep it - it’s certainly better than buying it twice.

BUT, before you do, remember that the GMT 5 digit is such a cool watch ! you can get another insert and BAM !! you have a brand new looking watch.
3 inserts, 2 bracelet ... you shouldn't fall out of love with this one

It happens, been there.

In my case selling what I no longer wanted was a great liberating feeling!

I listed mine but cancelled the sale and am glad I did, it's now my daily wear. 2 suggestions to rekindle the looooooove:

- put a black everest strap on it, completely changes the look by going from a squarish case (incl end links) to a round one with lugs (I switch back n forth once in awhile)
- brush the PCLs

Perhaps put the watch away for a month or so, then come back to it and reassess how you feel?

Things and feelings do change, look at the divorce rate, but I'd give it at least another month or two and if you still aren't feeling it then you can sell it.

If your a one watch guy, I can understand it but I would keep them both for a few rotations until the newness of the DJ Rubs off. Then I would make the decision

This is easy then. With only a year, your honeymoon is over. Very normal reaction. You miss the rush of a new watch. Unless you want to become a regular flipper, give your GMT some time and see if the spark comes back.

I had one, used it often when traveling and wish I had it back. Made the decision a couple of years ago to be a one Rolex owner so the GMT was part of a flip deal I made. I might add it again someday.

Try putting it on a strap to change up the look -- you might find that you see it with fresh eyes. The Rubber B with the thin green matching stripe looks pretty slick on the GMT. I personally wear my BLNR on a black croc strap, and I think it looks great.

I’m feeling the same way about my LN. For some reason I can’t get explorers off my mind. I really think it’s the polished center links that turn me off as well.

It happened to me, I sold it and got a SubC almost 3 years now couldn't be happier

As others said, put a rubber, leather or croc strap on it before parting company. Short money.

Easy answer here: Put it in the safe-deposit-box or safe and forget about it....it's gone. Pull it out in a few years and you'll be very happy you kept it. If not then straight to your favorite four letter word.......NEXT!

Bought a GMT LN when was 1st introduced (just like the BLRO now) from my AD for my brother since I had good connection with them ADs. I like the watch so much that I bought a 2nd one for myself, I still have it. People got tired of it after 10+ years on the market but the fact is it's still a beautiful watch, I think Rolex will stop making the green gmt hand/wording in the next one. I remember the green GMT hand got to do with some anniversary.

After 10+ years, IMO people will eventually get tired of the current SS BLRO

Give it some time and the feeling might pass. I felt this way about my Sub C, sold it for an Explorer, and now regret it as I find my self wanting a Sub again. I think we all get the itch for something new occasionally, being on this forum certainly doesn't help! And if in a few months you still feel the same way, you can always sell it then.
