Need help making a decision Rolex VS Omega

Hi All,
I'm new to the forum. I'm sorry to start with a question. I'm looking at Rolex Deepsea D-Blue 12660 pre-owned and brand new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph. They both retail for around $12.5K.
This will not be my everyday watch. I'm having hard time to decide. I like the way omega looks but in the long run I think Rolex is better option. I can get Omega for $4K less than Rolex so there is that factor. I would like to get one this week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

In my view, watch purchases are visceral decisions more than cerebral ones. Both will allow you to tell accurate time, so functionally they are not that different.

That leaves the emotional dimension. Ask yourself, which one excites you more when you put it on your wrist?

I like both but DSSD JC is a better option. The bracelet of the DSSD alone is miles better than the strap of the Omega.

If resale is at all a consideration... avoid omega (unless buying omega pre owned).

Omega has serious resale issues due to their inability to narrow their offering. $4k could be a drop in the bucket.

The Rolex for sure. I'm biased because I'm not a fan of two-tone in general

Thanks much for your replies. I went with a discontinued SD4K 116600 that was listed fs here and I also got the Omega, couldn’t resist the way it looks. Will post some pics soon.

Nice move. The SD4K is less bulky than the deep-sea but has the latest tech (great adjustable bracelet, shiny ceramic bezel) and can handle being more than a kilometre under water - not that you'll need it, but the engineering is impressive. It has a little more 'presence' on the wrist compared to the regular submariner as it's thicker, but without being super thick and heavy like the deepsea.

We're looking forward to the pics!

After seeing the DSSD in the first post, everything else is disappointing.

LOL.

Which one should I get?

Ah, never mind, I bought both.

Way to go! You'll fit in here just fine.

Congrats on your double purchase. Both are good choices.

Life is about choices and I acted on my intuition ha ha.
Next on my list is gmt blnr. Would love to get one from AD. I called all over Chicagoland with no luck. I’m Flying to Singapore next week any particular store I should be checking out? When I looked on a map there are dozens of AD. I’m actually there only for a day any pointers would be helpful.
Thanks.

First always be happy with your choice . Did the omega route great watches not for me , I’ve been staying with Rolex best part if you’re tired of the watch easier to sell or trade

I think it'll depend on your mood to wear it: Omega > sport, Rolex > classic :)

I have both these watches. In my case, I have the titanium Planet Ocean Chronograph but basically the same watch - and for the record I love both of them.

That said - get the Rolex. Don't get me wrong I am entirely happy with the Omega, it's a brilliant watch and I do consider it to be on the same level as the Rolex quality-wise.

But you're still better off with the Rolex. It's a staple bedrock watch for any collection and the resale can't even remotely be compared.
