Day Date 40, WG, Silver Stripe Dial

I have a hankering to trade in a few watches on a DD40, WG, Silver Stripe Dial. My issues are as such; None of the three ADs I deal with have one, DSW doesn't have one, and I have only seen a few pics of such a piece. Having bought a white 500C Daytona sight unseen only to discover the hands fade pretty bad in a good many lighting conditions, I am not inclined to do that again.

Are there any WG Silver Stripe owners out there that can 1. post some non-enhanced pics of your timepiece and 2. can comment on the low light visibility of that specific piece.

Not to be rude, but please no blues, greens, greys, romans, etc. I am on the hunt for specific intel. Thanks.

E-

Can you post a picture from the internet on what you are looking for? I own a WG DD40 black dial, with baguette indicies. I can post pictures of it if you like. I can tell you, it's a lot easier to read the hands on my Submariner than it is with this watch under low light conditions.

Haven’t seen it in person. I’ve stuck with green or blue dial in WG, very legible (except no lume). Not sure if this was the one you’re looking at, but looks pretty legible.

I believe there calling it a Sundust stripe dial. I seen one at Mayors in Jax FL last week. It was a RG with a champagne Sundust dial.

Running through the configuration options on the Rolex web site, it looks like the sundust is an option offered with the rose gold variant, not with the white gold.

Watchcrusher on eBay has one listed. Search for Rolex 228239 stripe and you’ll find it.

I don't own a DD with a Silver Stripe dial, but I owned a DJ with a Silver dial for many years. It was not an issue when my eyes were young, but as I got older, in my 40's, I had a harder and harder time reading the watch especially in daylight. I'd have to put my glasses on to read the watch, not ideal. I'm well past my 40's now, and several years ago the watch was relegated to its box (too much sentimental value to sell it). I like the look of a Silver dial, but I'll never buy another Silver dial watch with WG hands again. Just not useful. My Exp I is the most readable watch I have. The GMT is a close second. I will replace the DJ but with a Blue dial this time. I need high contrast dials/hands now. I have seen the Sundust dial on the TT DJ and it is a wonderful dial. Wish it was more available.

Not sure how old you are, or how long you plan to keep the watch. But you may want to factor your age and eye sight into the equation. Of course you may not have the same issue as me. It's not that I'm going blind, just normal aging. I wear a 2.5 reader but don't need any glasses for distance viewing, or driving. When I was young I had 20-15 vision. Those were the good old days!

I was at an AD last month and the sales lady agreed to take two watches out into the sunlight so I could see what they look like in more normal light. Very helpful. If you can find a Silver dial DJ see if they will bring it outside for you to see in the daylight.

The Sundust stripe dial is definitely dreamy.

I think the rhodium kills the silver.
