New 126660 DSSD D-Blue for Christmas

Hi Rolex Forum Members and Happy Holidays,

I have never owned a Rolex watch, but I joined the Rolex forum in May 2016, to learn about the brand...........it is a very informative site and I have learned a great deal. My family always knew I wanted a nice Rolex watch, but as expected, there were always other priorities.

This Christmas, my 2 sons gave me my 1st ever Rolex, a new Sea Dweller Deep Sea D-Blue, 126660. This gift was a combined 65th birthday and Christmas gift. Needless to say, I very surprised, and very thankful for their thoughtfulness.

My elementary observations of the 126660:
1. As most folks have said on this site, the watch is MUCH nicer in person then when viewing pictures online.

2. The "Original Gas Escape Valve" and "Ring Lock System" are not highly visible at all, and not that noticeable in person. Hard to believe but true, as I never even notice it.

3. In my opinion, the size and weight of the watch was not nearly as big, bulky, and heavy as I expected it to be. Actually I thought the opposite. It is not top heavy at all. I thought the watch in person would be huge, but it wasn't on my wrist. For perspective on my size, I'm 6'4', 248 pounds, with 7.75" wrist.

4. The glidelock system is a very convenient feature.

5. The blue fade to black dial is very nice.

That's all I can think of at the moment.
I tried to upload a picture, but the file size was too big (I don't know how to resize it)

I do need to get the bracelet adjusted as the clasp is not centered on my wrist.......it doesn't seem to affect the comfort though.

Finally 3 comments from my loving wife of 37 years:
1. You are only going to wear it on special occasions, right? My Response, Wrong, I will wear it every day.

2. You are not going to wear in the water or at the beach, it will get ruined. My Response, Yes I will, as it is built for that and much more.

3. My sons 16623 Yellow Gold Rolex Yacht Master Mother of Pearl Dial on leather strap is nicer than my DSSD. My Response, I disagree.

Now, I may have acquired Rolex fever..............as I am now checking out the 40mm Gold Day Date's on the forum.

Happy New Year to all................
