Out of curiosity, did you read it on the news first? |

No - everything is shown in real time so you see the possibility of an approaching eclipse days ahead. Sun is depicted at 12 0’clock. The Earth rotates anti-clockwise once a day, the moon rotates anti-clockwise once a lunar month - 12 o’clock moon is a new moon, 6 o’clock moon is a full moon. It is very easy to read, moon and dragon hand at 12 o’clock is a solar eclipse, both at 6 o’clock is a lunar eclipse. The bent wire to the right shows the line of the sun rising across the earth with the relevant sunrise time and the sun setting time is shown to the left by the bent wire - above the wire is daylight, below the wire is night. The bending of the wire shows the current angle of the Earth relative to the sun from overhead the North Pole - currently North Pole is in permanent darkness. On the longest and shortest days the wire is at maximum deflection and will be straight at each equinox. |

I have to say before I got the Tellurium I never really appreciated the interaction of the moon with the earth and how the phases progressed including the various times the moon appeared in the sky. |

I respect anyone who would buy this watch. It's easy to like a watch but it's hard to actually spend this kind of money on this brand. Good for you Russell.

UN has made some fantastic pieces, over the years I have owned quite a few and was lucky enough to meet Rolf Schnyder on several occasions. |

It is an amazing piece, like a number of other manufacturers Ulysse Nardin don’t get as much credit as they should for the innovative pieces they have produced:
Astrolabium, Planetarium, Tellurium, Freak, Sonata, Moonstruck, minute repeaters, cloisonne work etc etc. |

I do have a soft spot for the Freak 1, it is the original and smaller than all those that followed. At 42mm it is much more wearable and has a unique movement not shared by any other versions. |

Did I see this advertised for sale Russell? Seems a shame to let such an amazing piece go?

Hi Roger, you did, it is an amazing piece and it is hard to let it go. Some other recent movements of multiple pieces might allow me the room to keep it - the incoming 5370 is the issue.
