Strange ladies' Rolex...
Is it real, or is it Memorex? Strange watch, with a bracelet I associate with junkers. Thoughts?

looks fine. The true test on these things is to see A) the inside back cover (shown in this case) to show rolex marks and B) the inside of the clasp to show Cellini type marks or Rolex marks or other Rolex authorized marks.
This is an area that is very understudied due to traditional lack of interest by hobbyists as to ladies watches. Rolex USA imported movements and allowed (apparently) many different American companies to make cases and bracelets for these watch in the USA (after importing movements) as well as the Swiss made bracelets that were imported. (This Swiss made ones are easy to detect due to hallmarking. ) To add to the confusion, many users, collectors and owners, when a bracelet was worn out, would add bracelet parts to the watch, saving the marked "clasp" by adding it to the gold. This is not always readily apparent but is sometimes easier to discern by color of gold difference or crude gold-soldering job. This one looks ok but would like to see underside of clasp. Jeff |
