Lume Application Question on Maxi Dial
Have not seen to much on this so thought I might ask the collective wisdom of the board.
I was examining a new maxi dialed model and noted that the lume application seemed to be a little uneven? Meaning that in the large "12" triangle, there was a small gray line, looking almost like a small pencil mark in the middle of the triangle. Upon closer inspection, you can see that it seems to be an area where the lume must be very thin (or at least thinner then in the rest of the triangle) and thus the small gray area. It is not noticeable from a distance but looking closely at the dial, it is apparent. A couple of the other indices also have a slight grayish spot in the middle of the indice seeming to show that the lume might be thinner in that spot. Again, it is not super noticeable unless you are looking at the dial closely but was wondering if this were typical or if this particular dial might have escaped Rolex QC. Thanks in advance for any insight. |

I had this issue with my GMT11-C - I had RSC check it out and they confirmed that it was an issue with the application of the Luminova - they agreed to replace the dial.

Send it. better to have them fix it, than for you to always know there is a known defect. It will bug the crap out of you. Then all your non rolex friends will notice, and there is no end of grief to their... "well fort ten grand I expect they would do the lume right" type of crapola.

Where's JJ and his loupe?
But seriously - loop the loupe before you purchase - it can save all kinds of grief. If you're not satisfied - please send it in. Good luck.
