gosh. tough to say. But unless the color continuity is off and a few other things have been altered, I would have to go with fake on this one.
I have emailed the guy to have him send some more pics to me. Jeff |

HMMM, noq I am curious, according to my watch book the one I showed he sold is worth around 81,000. This one should have a cal 727 movement in order to be a daytona?
This Classic Wristwatchs book I have appears to be coming in handy............If I am reading it right:) |

Anyone else have any thoughts on this piece? It is very odd that the last Rolex he sold went for so little although it seemed to be like a Frankenwatch.

Other one he sold said it had a 72c in it. I thought it should of had a 727 movement.
Watch book I have all the daytona's have a 727 or el primero movement unless I have missed something. where are all the pro's when you need them. LOL!!! |

I know, Jim. Where is everyone!?! A bunch of amateurs running the ship here and we are sinking LOL
It's my understanding that the Valjoux 72 movement was made by Valjoux and used by Rolex, and was also called cal 727...... |

Jim,
Check out this link http://www.minutemachines.com/massen...naDaytona.html It says that the movement for this is Valjoux 72, but also known as Rolex 727....seems like Rolex re-branded it? |

Can't say but according to my classic watch book, both of the watches if authentic are worth a great deal more than he is asking. But the 727 was stamped 727 and the 72c was stamped accordingly.
Someone who is reading this might be getting a good chuckle................ But in the end we might know what we are talking about...............with lessons of course. |

Well,
the titles seem to say it all. A common Valjoux movement with a rolex dial of some kind. not a Valjoux that had been reworked by Rolex to become a "rolex" movemtn. the guys is selling movments. Perhaps valjoux 72 movements from a Hamilton or an Angelus. Looks bogus. totaly bogus. |

I have no idea what this guy is really selling.
But whatever it is, I don't think we want it. |

I reckon the question is answered. Thanks Jeff and Pav.
But I stand by what my book says, some rolex chrono's had the 72c in them. I got the book that shows it. Anyone wants to see I can try and snap a pic of the watch. It is from the other watch he had posted. Watchbook said it was worth 81,000.00. Makes his 3550.00 seem like a.............................err............steal ! |

Yeah, something really doesn't add up. I had a well known watchmaker look at this and he said that it looks fine. I actually spoke with the seller on the phone, and his watchmaker told him that it wasn't right. <sigh>
