5513 with Rolex service but without service marks?
Hello everybody,
I was wondering if anyone knows or could have an idea why this watch does not have any service-engravings on its caseback although the papers state that it was serviced by Rolex USA? Serial number and date stamp are matching so I don't think that the caseback was swapped. Here the link to the watch: https://www.hqmilton.com/timepieces/...e-papers-A1652 |

Doing a little adjusting with the photo, it does seem there’s something there. Faint, to be sure, but it could be some service scribbling. I’ve seen some even more incoherent.

Or could’ve been written in magic marker and later removed?

Thank you for zooming in! But would Rolex really engrave that faintly and in that way?

I wonder if you can call a service center and, with the serial number, get a copy? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you have Rolex paperwork, you don't need a case scratch... All Rolex service is recorded on the watches database, no point in cryptic markings.

Surprising that apparently there were three different ways by Rolex to mark a service back then (engravings on the caseback, magic marker or no service marks at all on the caseback and an entry in Rolex' records/database instead) – and no uniform marking system, which would have been easier. Good to know! Thanks guys!

When I picked up my a watch, I called the Dallas service center to see if it was ever serviced. It wasn’t according to their records. Granted, My watch was a Y serial so it's not vintage.

It was serviced at RUSA NY in 2005.
No way of knowing what was done since that or before that. The case was polished by them in 2005. Perhaps the marks you see are an artifact of previous markings by a non-Rolex watchmaker. By 2005 no RSC was scratching the inside of the caseback. A Sharpie was used by some watchmakers to help them with ID’g their work. But databases at RSC has become the norm. As the watch is sold, I doubt the seller will comment here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
