Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Mitsukoshi Mod 311.30.42.30.01.005 + Extras

Long description, please read is all…

Not entirely sure I want to list this as it has been one of my favorite pieces in the collection, but it has been sitting in my watch box and not getting any wrist time. This is a highly sought after Speedmaster with the “Mitsukoshi” modification. However, this is likely one of the finest examples of a modification as you’ll see below.

Before I get to the specifics, this has to be one of the most beautiful and classic dials that Omega has ever produced and it is becoming extremely hard to find – hand and dial sets are selling by themselves for well over $1k, This is a great opportunity to pick up a piece that will always be highly sought after and will continue to increase in value.

The watch started as a brand new Speedmaster Professional 311.30.42.30.01.005 purchased new in early 2017. This is the current version of the 42mm Moonwatch with the Hesalite crystal. I didn’t want to find a “donor watch” that had a history already or unknown origins. Immediately after purchasing it, I sourced the authentic Mitsukoshi dial and hand set. Instead of having a “local watchmaker” do the dial swap, I sent it over to Govberg Watch (an authorized dealer and service center for most of the top swiss brands including Omega). The dial swap cost $250 (receipt included) – I didn’t want to cut any corners, so I paid to make sure everything was done by the best. They returned the original handset and dial and they will both be included with the sale.

Next, I wanted to make sure I had plenty of options when it came to the bracelet and strap. I purchased and installed the Omega micro-adjustable clasp (STZ004666) to give the bracelet ultimate comfort and adjust-ability during daily wear. The original clasp is included.
For an extra strap option, I purchased an Omega Black Calf Leather Rally Strap (98000024) and 18mm stainless folding clasp (94521833). When installed it gives the watch a really cool vintage vibe (and is extremely comfortable as well…)

Finally, based on everything I’ve read about Omega tightening up their parts distribution, I purchased an extra handset (067WZ00328) for use when the watch needs to be serviced.

I promise you won’t find a more complete, professionally put together Mitsukoshi set than this.

Now, the condition. I would say that overall the watch in in excellent condition – it is better than you’d expect for a 2 year old watch worn carefully in a rotation with many others. Mechanically, everything functions crisply and runs smoothly. It is currently running at +6s a day (remember the watch itself is less than 2 years old). The bracelet shows typical scuffs / desk diving marks, but they are faint and only on a handful of links. The clasp shows similar wear – all could easily be brushed out if you so desire. The case has a few light marks on the sides and a handful of light scratches on the back of the lugs from strap changes. The crystal / bezel don't appear to have any scratches of scuffs (and since the crystal is hesalite, you can always use polywatch to buff any out). I did my best to capture everything in the photos under harsh light so there will be no surprises.

Comes as a complete set with watch, outer boxes, large Speedmaster Presentation box with all goodies (extra NATO and velco straps, loupe, strap tool, etc.), books, manuals, cards with AD stamped warranty card, hang tag, plastic shipping coffin, extra hand set, original dial and hand set, adjustable clasp, original clasp and black Omega rally strap with folding clasp.

As you can see, I have quite a bit invested in this watch set and would love to sell it to someone who would appreciate the whole set rather than piecing it out. I am looking for $5800. Wire preferred, paypal add 3%. I’ll cover shipping via USPS Registered Mail. Not really interested in trades, maybe modern or 5 digit Rolexes...

Plenty of references from many watch sales. Please ask any questions.

Thanks!
