My first Explorer

Finally, I added a 1016 to my collection. I have been wanting one for over 10 years, but never committed as I felt they were overpriced and a bit small...yea that was stupid as they were around $4000 when I first started looking. Thanks to a member of this forum who responded to my WTB post, I found an exceptional example c.1974. Now I have to wonder why I waited so long...it is amazing. The size is perfect, and its just gorgeous. The patina a perfect match to my '68 5513 too.

Now I just need to find a matching 7836 Bracelet.

Beautiful pair. Kudos to the seller for allowing you to enjoy that 1016. I think the straps look trick.

I just commented on your post in the Everyday’s Vintage day thread. It is a beautiful watch. Lucky you for such a find.

My 1016 was born in 1974, Id like to find a matching bracelet ideally dated 1974 as well...which bracelet/end link combo fit the 1016 best?
Based on the charts it appears that in 1974, any of these are appropriate:
7836/280
7836/380
78360/580
C&I

I have a 1969 C&I Bracelet, it fits reasonably well, but the end links aren't perfectly aligned. Ive read that the 580 end links aren't a great fit either...do the 280 or 380 fit better?

Wow, exceptional condition. Untouched case, matching patinas, original 1016 "long" hands, and domed crystal-very rare to find these with all 4. Congrats!

The WTB section actually works?!?!? I thought that was scammer land.

Congrats, that's a great pickup.
