New Member Rolex vs. IWC vs. Omega
Hi everyone,
New member from NYC here. I've been researching watches for the past two years ever since I got a nice little Seiko SKX 007 as my first proper mechanical watch. Now I'm looking to start growing my collection, and am having a difficult time deciding what my next purchase should be. I've got between 3-5k to spend for this one. Looking for something I can wear everyday, in jeans and a tshirt or a suit. I'm torn between an Omega Speedmaster, IWC Marx XVIII or Pilot Chronograph, or a vintage Rolex Datejust (preferably a 1601). Probably will purchase pre-owned as I think you get way more value that way. I'd love a Submariner or GMT, but those are a bit more expensive and I already have a dive sports watch so figured start with a chronograph or straight time and date watch and then down the line pick up a Submariner and/or GMT. The new Tudor GMT caught my eye as well, but know those can be difficult to come by. Thoughts? Am I overlooking any great watches in that price point? |

Welcome to the forum. You know there is going to be biased views in here. Lol after all it is a Rolex forum. The Tudor gmt looks awesome and people seem to really like them. I have never tried one on. Also the Tudor BB58 is a nice choice. In the Rolex brand I like the explorer 1. Very versatile watch and in your price point. The speedy also awesome. Those are my opinions but get what makes you happy.

If you buy pre owned for the Rolex explorer 1 that is.

If you want a sub or gmt nothings going to quench that thirst until you get one! Save up a bit more and buy what you truly want! Take it from me I bought a brand new explorer from the AD and flipped it for something else in 3 weeks lol

Take some more time to save up and buy the watch you really want. Having spent you're money on a new watch you will still crave the Sub or Gmt.

Welcome. I would look at the Rolex Explorer I, pre-owned or a pre-owned Speedmaster. Also, take a look at the Tudor line-up as the Black Bay models work at a very reasonable price.

Welcome.
Take a look at the Rolex Oyster Perpetual line, they're not high priced and offer some solid watches and dial choices. |
