Rolex 116710ln - date change
Hi fellow watch enthusiasts and lovers!
My first thread here, I wanna thank you all for your help with my doubts regards the purchase of my first Rolex. What a great forum this is! My question: Bought a 116710LN on Saturday and today I realized that the date only changed at 00:07. Is this normal? Should I worry? Thanks in advance for your reply’s! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enviado do meu iPhone usando o Tapatalk |

If it's changing consistently at the same time every night, then there's nothing mechanically wrong with your watch. That just happens to be where the watchmaker set the hands relative to the date change. Enjoy your watch.

My 116710LN changes at 00:06 and my 216570 changes at 00:05 every night. So as said above your fine. I’ve never had any mechanical watch I’ve ever owned change exactly at midnight.

Definitely normal. All of the instantly jumping dates vary slightly when they turn. I wouldn't worry too much if less than 10mins or so. Not that you would need to worry if later, just mean that is normal. The date wheel won't change until it can instantly

Wherever the hands are clipped into place determines what supposed time the mechanism is at. The hands just clip onto the stem and, can be clipped on in any position. Hence the varied date changeover times, give or take a few minutes.

Don’t worry, that’s normal and within spec. I think the allowed tollerence is before 00:10 but after 00:00.

Actually it is 23:59 to 00:02, or at least that is the tolerance I have to work with when applying hands during service.

Cue the next thread about sending watches in for servicing to obtain a more accurate date change (while simultaneously requesting the rehaut to be aligned and the crown’s Rolex crown to go perfectly up and down).

Cannot understand why as long as its has changed by next morning and you can see its changed then it proves you are still alive thats far more important.

Although the change is instantaneous Rolex parameters for the date to change is 5 minutes before midnight and up to 10 minutes after. Your watch is fine!

Not to spark anyone's OCD but if a watch I service goes through quality control and they see that the date changes outside the 23:59 - 00:02 range I have to reapply the hands. I can't imagine the tolerance for a new watch to be this high. Especially considering a dead on 00:00 is easy to achieve with the Rolex instant date change mechanism. |

The date changes sometime between 00:06:25 and 00:06:48 on my sub. Observed this multiple times.

Why would you worry over that? Did the date change? Do you really need to know the date change to the second? If so I'd be keenly interested in knowing why. I honestly don't know when mine changes and I never will unless I happen to be checking the time when it happens.
Enjoy that beauty and don't fuss over the little stuff. By the way, your polished center links are going to get scuffed up. Just accept it and wear your watch. Don't let it wear you. |
