No more oystersteel GMTs!!!

Sad day for Rolex. I can’t beleive Rolex decided to eliminate all oystersteel GMTs. I feel very lucky to have my oystersteel Batman. I’m not sure what Rolex is thinking with that move.

Seperating the GMT's from the dive watches visually I suppose.

The BLRO was a success last year, so I have no doubt the BLNR will be the same.

Do you mean the oyster bracelet? I think they call any steel watch "oystersteel".

Yes, I’m sure the new BLNR will do well for those who like the jubilee, but come on, no GMTs in oystersteel!!!

Some love it, some hate it. If I was in the market for a BLNR I wouldnt mind the Jubilee. But I do prefer my oyster on my current BLNR. Movements aren't a big deal to me. The current movement in the BLNR is just fine, solid work horse.

All Rolex did was purge the watches with the old movement. I expect we will see a return of the GMT LN and GMT TT in yellow gold with the new movement at some point.

Oystersteel is the same old 904L SS that Rolex has used for decades, and in the real world no better with today's mainly pampered watches than the industry norm 316L. Fact oystersteel which is really 904L will scratch easier and show scratches more than 316L .

I think you understand what I was trying to communicate. There are no more GMTs with a steel oyster bracelet. That seems sad!

I think if you add to the fact that there are now only 2 SS GMTs, that will tighten inventory even more, not only for GMT but for subs as well. Fact is, this was the only watch you can possibly buy from the safe or on a 6 month list. No more for sure. Feel bad for Rolex fans.

As a guy who already has an 116710LN and 16710 with Oyster bracelets I am hoping the sad demise of the LN, YG TT, YG GMTs results in an increase in production of the BLRO so I can get one faster.

Why is it sad? I have 2 with oyster bracelet, they are no where near as comfortable as the jubilee that comes with the pepsi.

It’s sad for those who don’t like the jubilee option and the SS oyster is a classic bracelet.

well its only natural to assume oystersteel refers to an oyster bracelet and rolex would call a jubilee Jubiloystersteel or jubileel

didn't test well in focus groups though

What was really sad is when they added PCLs to the oyster bracelets on all the GMTs. The jubilee is honestly an improvement over that.

The Jubilee bracelets on the new BLRO and BLNR are all steel as well, so they still have two models in all Oystersteel, which is a fancy name for 904L.

As others have said, they clearly wanted some seperation between the Submariner and GMT lines. So SS Submariners are on brushed oyster bracelets and are monochromatic and GMT's are now 2 colors (bezels) and on jubilee bracelets.
