Almost funny

I just called my alternate AD to ask his take on the new releases. I made a snarky comment to the effect of "I'm betting your phone is not ringing off the hook the last two days." His response? Yeah, no one has called at all.

Sad, but true.

I would like to also add that I am still super confused, mostly regarding Tudor. This was the 50th year anniversary of the Tudor SUb Date and the Ranger. While the Ranger is very plain, why on earth would they let a milestone as such slide? I really don't get it.

I know this topic has been beat to death in the last 24, but that doesn't change my confusion. Just sayin'.

Poor strategy imo. Tudor could've easily filled the gap left by SS Rolex in the <$9k range. Could've easily took a lot more market share from competitors if they had a little more conviction. A modern Sub would've been perfect addition to slot between the BB and Pelagos. Or pair with the Pelagos as a modern diver and have shared its amazing clasp. How about a modern looking BB58.

To be quite honest, I'm getting really tired of Tudor's over focus on Heritage designs. And the rivets, ugh. Someone seems asleep at the wheel between this year and last year (with the release of the GMT prior to the movement quirks being worked out).

I dont believe it at all. My local AD already has names for each of the models.

Trust me TRF haters but to the majority of the population all these watches will sell. In a few months everyone will be congratulating ppl on their incommings.

Same thing happened when they released other models like the Hulk. It received a lot of hate and look at it now. LOL

I doubt it. The number one reason people spend big money on a Rolex, AP, PP, VC, even Omega is because of brand recognition. Tudor lacks brand recognition outside of the connoisseur circles and a $6-$8k Tudor sub just wouldn’t sell well IMO. Tudors don’t sell well, period. I own one (25600 pelagos) by the way and i think it’s almost on par with a rolex sub to be honest. Then i look at how much they sell for new and used and i realize no one knows about these watches. They are hard to sell at 30 off MSRP even though what you get is phenomenal. There is just no hype around them and thus desirability is very low.

My AD said they got tons of calls, but basically all for the BLNR only. Almost none for anything else.

I put myself down for a Batman on the Jubilee the morning it came out. I’m first on the list. The AD said it had been really quiet esp on the Tudor side.

It was a conscious decision methinks. This would not be an oversight.

But IMHO, a “focus forward” strategy is not a bad thing.

My watch guy was off yesterday. He said he was glad because the AD got bombarded with calls about the BLNR and new Yachtmaster.
