Rolex YM or Sub
Hi
I can't decide between a SS Sub or a YM Platinum. I lean more to YM because it would be discontinued (true?). But again, SS Sub is more popular than YM (agreed?). Can someone help or give me some advise as to which to choose? Any comments are welcome. |

I'd choose the one you like the best when you try them on. I like them both, but much prefer the SS Sub, so if I didn't have on I'd go with that without question. I wouldn't worry about which one may or may not be discontinued, as trying to guess that and how collectors will view them down the line is to hard to do.

I love my SS/Plat YM. It looks at home with casual attire and doesn't look bad with a suit. I would try them both on your wrist before you decide though.

Ah here we are again, to me nothing beats the Submariner it's the "Iconic watch", the "Ultimate watch" , the "classic watch" , etc. etc. Why so popular and common? simple because people like the style and the look of it period.

Well first if we have any more rumours about Rolex watches being discontinued there will be none left in the Rolex line up.Basically not much difference in the two watches both share the same movement. The Sub is the Rolex classic and a real tool watch, which IMHO the YM is not, more of a dress type watch.

Of the two the Sub if its a daily wear...
The bezel on the sub can take more abuse and is cheap to replace BUT if it were me Id get the Sea Dweller......

Local AD is still taking order of YM, so it's not discontinued. Asked why YM was less popular, reasons given YM was plain, dressy and too 'whitish' as a sports watch. do you guys agree? Also pl advise whether the bracelet, steel case are the same for year 05 and current model?

Decisions, decisions I bet this one is hard to do. Why not buy both and by the way you could pick one up for me while you're at it!!!

YM is nice... if they were both the same price, it would be tough for me to choose. The YM is plainer looking, but it is an understated luxury watch. It is definitely more "dressy" than the Sub and at the same time it is nearly as "tool" of a watch.
The Sub Date is THE iconic watch.... I love mine! That said, if the price were the same offered by the AD (I don't know how unless the YM is preowned), then I would probably go with the YM. However, considering the price difference between the two new... I see no reason to not go with the Sub. My 2 cents.

Same movement housed in both models.
The Sub is more the tool watch and the beast. The YM is more sophisticated in looks and very classy looking. Try them both on and see which one you like. |
