2nd Hand Service Dilemma

Hey watch fam! So the dilemma I am having...

Noticed a sudden change in time on my 2015 SubC purchased second hand from reputable dealer. Ran perfect for almost 2 years... A local well known watch maker tested it and told me watch needs to go for servicing as it is not running properly. I brought it right down to my local AD and asked them to ship it for warranty review. They fed me the BS that since my name isn’t on warranty card Rolex may charge for service. I argued that point and they basically said “no guarantees”.

Do I...
A. pay the $90 to ship and cross my fingers RSC accepts warranty card (slow turnaround time and may possibly get bad news for expensive service)
B. Let local watch maker work his magic. Relatively cheap service cost and quick turnaround.
C. Keep watch hacked or just let it run out of juice and store it untll I’m in NY in June / July and just take it in for them to review (no cost review but I hate going a few months without my watch).

Watch maker is Scott at Orlando watch Co. if you are ever in the area, it is one of my favorite shops to visit. He usually carries a solid selection of 2nd hand Rolex watches. His personal collection is insaneeee. Winter park is also amazing if you want to get away from the tourist area!

If you are going to send it to an RSC, send it yourself. Why use a middle man? Be in control directly with the RSC.

You can send it for less than $90, and RSC doesn't care if your name is not on the card. As long as it is still under warranty. The fact that your AD told you that is more than enough reason to not trust them.

Once the RSC has evaluated your watch they will call YOU (not the AD) and tell you what service is needed. You can decide what to do.

Funny. I didn’t think of this as an option! I’ll call directly on Monday to feel them out.

Any recommendations on preferred RSC or are all the same?

Definitely the Dallas Location. The NY location is uptight from what I’ve read here on TRF.

RSC Dallas. They have mailing instructions on sending it Registered Mail. THey will even send you a little shipping kit but you can pack it yourself. Last time I sent a watch I think it was like $35 including insurance.

Definitely call them. Also, if you don't ship the watch IAW their instructions they will not accept it.

I just picked up a BLNR from Scott. Super great guy! I was a bit worried about my name not being on the card. This was really helpful.

Just an FYI, called Dallas RSC, they said the warranty follows watch, 100% no problem. Also, I am insured through Jewlers Mutual, who covers watches shipped for servicing - so shipping is next to nothing as I don’t need to insure through USPS.

Very easy process if you ever do have issues (hopefully you don’t)!
