Incoming Submariner-Date. The first Rolex of my family tree.
Three weeks ago, I came in to a walking-distance AD from my office.
I told the guy I wanted to try SD43 or Sub-Date. I learnt that SD43 might be too big for certain people, and I have 6.5" wrist. He said that it's impossible to try both at this market. Then, if you remember, I posted that silly question that was going viral in this forum whether it is appropriate to ask a random guy to try their Rolex (SD43) On the next day, I settled with moving on from the SD43, and told the AD guy my decision with Sub-Date Black/Black. I want to have this watch as inheritance for my young children (which means I need to hunt for two more). He said that he will let me know when they have it available. I didn't know how serious he was, so I drove across the lake to two other ADs, trying to put my name on their waiting list for Sub-Date Black/Black. Both ADs kind of kicked me out from their stores because I didn't have any purchase history. I came back to the walking-distance AD every couple days, asking for update. And two days ago I got the email that they got one for me. So there you go, I went there today to get this first Rolex of my family tree! I am super grateful that he let me be in the waiting list without any prior purchase, and eventually purchased it today. No engraving yet (thanks again for your advices) although he offered it for free. I might still do it once I can finalize what to engrave. Here it is: And my Tissot that will not be forgotten for forging the path to get the Rolex: |

Knowing the Seattle-area, I already know exactly which AD's you're talking about, lol. Did you give the panhandler in front of the Carhartt store some change?

Now the real question: If I ran into you in the streets and wanted to try on your Sub Date, would you let me? :) |

Joke aside, I wouldn’t mind when I have reasonable comfortable judgment with the place, neighborhood, and person who’d ask me. |

Forgive my ignorance, but isn’t the secondary market inflated for steel subs especially the LVc you mention. Why would anyone buy there if they could go to an AD get listed and wait only 3 weeks (in this case)? |
