How do you know you’ve found the right watch?
It’s been said “The hunt for the next Rolex is the most fun”
How do you know when you are ready to buy your next watch and that it is REALLY the watch you want? How has your taste evolved? ...... My taste evolves over time, I loved the TT Jubilee, now I think Oyster is the way to go. I was impressed by the Daytona then tried on the Sky Dweller. Loved the Sky Dweller but maybe it’s too much and a nice TT datejust could scratch the itch. Never loved the Yachtmaster II but over time, It’s grown on me.... |

Tastes (for me) evolve at a snail's pace. About 5 years ago I went through a phase figuring out exactly which model would replace my stolen SeaDweller. I went through a couple of Subs and an EXii before finally landing on the DSSD as the replacement piece. It can be a challenge figuring out what you like, but once you get fixated on a model you simply know. At least that's how its been with me, though YMMV.

I go to the AD for one piece, get distracted by another, and then consumed by the new watch. If I forget about the first watch and can't get the second off my mind in a month, my wallet is doomed.

I think if you are constantly looking, you’ll find something that you will want to buy.

You know you have found the right one when your desires for other watches diminish to a point where it's controllable.

Almost all watches I have bought, I talked myself into thinking it was the one. However, after many years and buying various different watches, I am still looking for “the one”...
This is a hobby and I like to match my watches with what I am wearing and the occasion. I guess, this is the reason I end up buying different dial colors or diviers or for formal occasions. |
