do you guys think rolex will come out with watches with bigger cases (besides yachtmaster) ....it seems to be becoming more and more the trend imo....i love by explorer ii but i think it would look amazing at 44-46mm

I don't think that they will.........

Neither the bigger Day-Date II at 41mm, or the DSSD at 43mm, or even the Yachtmaster II at 43mm, has been a big success..

There is no reason for them to decide that the watches that are selling should be up-sized to the watches that are not selling.

Rolex is notorious for not following the crowd so I think it's unlikely. But hey, I wouldn't mind if they did..

I don't think it's a trend that Rolex is following.

It's more like an evolution right now and we are in the swing of it. Just like the small wrist watch of the past, it evolves from era to era.

They take cautious steps but they cannot ignore the trend altogether. Hence we got the 43mm DeepSea, the YM2, 41mm versions of Day-Date and hopefully Date-Just. The GMT-IIc also changed and looks bigger although it has remained at 40mm.

Have to agree Larry 40mm is plenty big enough even for large wrists.And all this supersize this and supersize that, in reality we are talking about a few mm bigger.

I wish Rolex made a mid-size in the sport model. Can't help the body size I was born with. Small wrists nothwithstanding, I wear and love the sport models....just wish I
had a choice of a smaller size.

I may be the only Rolex customer that feels that way.

40mm is just fine IMHO for the majority of watches. While discussing this with an AD he said the fad would eventually die out as people went back to the 'good old days'

Still looking forward to the larger DJ though, and the TT ceramic I tried on was awesome in the case and weight. It was perfect for me , I just wasn't to struck on the yellow not looking like gold!

I hope they don't increase thier case size - thickness maybe. 40mm is fine for me because I don't want Rolex to look like a Cartier Santos 100 XL, or a Panarai, or an Omega. Some of these watches are just giagantic for my suits and clothings.

I do agree 40mm is to my eyes the perfect size for a sport watch

BUT

Its difficult for very expensive watches to be great successes... over 25000€ for the YMII, over 20.000 for the DDII and the cheapest one being the DSSD... which is 7.500€... is a very thick watch not easy to wear if you are less than 1m85 tall and you need to like the litterature on the rehaut... so i guess size is not the matter here...

Lets see what happens if the DJ 41mm comes out...

Besides, Rolex did intriduce all those large models... and they continue... DSSD being the latest addition...

To a couple of friends of mine, 40mm is too large and the Sub is too heavy. 38mm or 38mm is their preferred size.

I don't think Rolex's case style is compatible with larger watches. Somehow the proportions just don't work. I saw the 41mm DD and it just looks weird. I have yet to see the 43mm DSSD.

For the Rolex case, I think 40mm is just about perfect.

You might be on to something there.

A Rolex always seems to "wear" larger than it's measurements, even the DateJust. Some watch designs "wear" smaller than their given size. Maybe the Oyster design has hit it's relative limits.

Or maybe we've just gotten used what's familiar.

The reason why the DSSD is not selling, at least to me, is not the increased diameter (I love it!) but the increase case thickness and not increasing the bracelet size. Made it uncomfortable when I tried it on. If Rolex would make a Sub or Explorer II or GMT II the same diameter as the DSSD, and keep it the same thickness as then current models have, it would be ideal! (the DDII and YMII are not selling well, IMHO, more do do with the price and overall dial designs).

and 1 Omega Seamaster GMT 50th.anniversary 41mm

and my new Rolex Green sub LV only 40mm...

Love the watch but after always find it small after wearing my other ones!

This has me curious. How big is the average man in the US?

I am 6'0 and 200lbs solid. I think my Pilot Chrono is approaching a ridiculous size for me. I also think that the 40mm sports models are perfect in size.

I can't make any sense of the bigger watch trend. Especially when a lot of people look like they're wearing a novelty watch.

Long live the 40mm sport models.
