So does RSC still produce dials of super old discontinued models for servicing? Like how often could an Explorer II like that come in, let alone from someone who wants a service dial? Would love to see their inventory/how they address these types of repairs.

Yes it's still avaliable from Rolex but you must trade in your old one. Of course most of the owners not will change their dials
but RSC refuse to service them if they not change dial if the original dial risk to loose some tritium into the movement.

And that is exactly the reason why
I still have the original dial.
Apart from that the old dial also looks awesome with the patina.
My eyes prefer the newer dials

I was not familiar with the transformation this watch went through! Frankly for all the terrible looking 1655's floating around with destroyed bezels and dials with massive lume loss I would think having them serviced into a similar condition by RSC would be awesome. Too bad the value of the watch prevents it from being made awesome looking again.
